Sage Francis Bio

"All great truths begin as blasphemies," proclaimed the fiery playwright George Bernard Shaw. It's a sentiment that can be applied exponentially to the works of rapper Sage Francis and his exhilarating new album Li(f)e. Francis has never been afraid to provoke. As a result he is a sometimes polarizing and increasingly important figure in modern music. Adored by many, reviled by a few but never ignored and always essential, Sage Francis has emerged as the reigning agent provocateur of hip hop. Read more

Sage Francis featured in the new Public Enemy video

I’m highly honored to have been included in this new Public Enemy video. Such an amazing song! Truly, this is one of the greatest honors I’ve ever received so I’d like to thank Mista Chuck for the shout.

Here’s a strange little video interview I did at the Marvel Comics headquarters in NYC:

Lastly, since we’re about to storm every castle around the globe, here’s a brand new video of B. Dolan doing an acapella verse for the camera. Nice and slowww…so you can hearrrr itttt.

It’s been a hell of a year. Really. Wish us luck!

p.s.  My new twitter ID is www.twitter.com/SageFrancis and that’s where a majority of my updates will take place during our travels. We might even sneak in a ustream or two. Probably a bad idea, but we’re full of ‘em these days.

Can you let me know if you ever pass through Alberta? I live in Lethbridge, but frequent Calgary, Edmonton and Pincher Creek and would love to take you out for tea!

    Johnny,
it seems like you missed our US/Canada tour. Sorry to hear that. Unless Canada hooks me up with a sweet festival date there is no way I’m going to attempt crossing the border again. It’s not worth the time, stress or money. We made the most of our Canadian trip as we could while we were out there a couple months ago but it wasn’t without an incredible hassel.

Hey! I just saw you were coming to Paris. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to come at the concert, because I don’t have any money these days, and I have to think about how to eat before how to hear! Anyway, I would have loved to meet you, really. I like your texts and musics, and, as I’m a rapper and a musician myself, and feel close to the subjects you’re exploring, I would like to talk about music and stuff with you, and see if there’s a possibility we could do something together someday…

A new album is about to come, in the end of December 2010, I’ll let you know…

Well, I will let you know if I’m ever in rhode island (or wherever you reside)

    : )

ps I’m really sad you are retiring from touring. All my favorite rappers seem to be at the end of their careers and i haven’t noticed too many prospects to take their place. Are you still going to make albums?

  5. Rasmus and Erik says:

First off, big ups on the new album. There is some wicked shit right there!

Second, we were on our way to Stockholm for the show on Friday afternoon when our train crashed. Turning upside-down at high speed infected our morale a slight bit so we stupidly enough returned to Oslo about an hour after your show there was over.

What we’re trying to say is: Please go for another scandinavian tour some time in the future!

    cheers

  6. Sage Francis says:

Wow. Your train flipped upside down??? I’m glad you’re alive to tell me about this right now but I’m sorry that happened. I didn’t hear about anything like this happening so this is a total surprise. I’m very glad to hear you are alright. I don’t want to take trains now. haha

    Dear Sage Francis,
I have long admired your work. Its good to see you are putting your message out for free. However, these is something I think you should know about. It’s called ACTA. I’m sure you’ve heard about it. If you are curious and want to learn more than google is allowed to provide, feel free to contact me. My best regards, from someone who learned how to be more loving with your brotherly guidance..
