I like how everyone here is so worried about offending Sage: "We all know sage is tight... blah blah blah" "I'm a big fan but blah blah blah" We're all fans, we get it. Anyways, Eviction Notice sucks, i've never heard a song where the beat interupts the flow so much. Lyrically its average to above average, but if all we cared about were lyrics we'ed be reading more poetry than listening to music. As a song it sucks, dont lie. The AOI stuff is shit, but no one will argue with that. The Specialist is disappointing to listen to off the cd after seeing him do it live with gruvis malt, the album version has no passion at all compared to it.

Given the subject manner, how would you expect Eviction Notice to sound, you know? It's not the type of song to play around the campfire. I think it's one of the more complex songs Sage has done, and the odd nosdam production was definitely up to it in my book. I don't know many songs that illicit the same feeling that Eviction Notice does, and that's across all music. To me it's that feeling you get when you're listening to your parents, or someone else's parents fight in the room next to yours. I'm not saying that's what the song's about, but that's the feeling...definitely an ugly song. I can see why it may not be people's favorite song, but it's one of Sage's best, I think.

Hahaha, i gotta say my least favorite is the radio edit of makeshift patriot... man, love yourself at half mast?

i like most of sage's other stuff. I really really like the beat for "hey bobby" and the lyrics too, i guess they just dont mesh together as well as the song could. if that makes any sense.

if the song is supposed to be ugly and uncomfortable(which i think it is) then it's succesful. that said, i don't like the song.

nosdam's a talented kid and he gets props for having radiohead on his nuts but i'm not really a fan and that beat is one of the reaons why. the lyrics are solid but not enough to make for the sluggishness(?) of the beat.

oh yer....

makeshift patriot got real old really quickly for me....

its just the beat.....that beat grates on me...drones on like a sad waltz into shitty music...

i always thought sage should rerecord it over a better beat.....maybe he did?

Is your screenname, named after Arturo Sandoval? I've never listened to the guys music before, but I was trying in vain to find any album by Archie Shepp this weekend at the local music places and I kept seeing Arturo Sandoval, and it made me think of ol' Sandoval on the Non-prophets board.

Kinda weird.

hmmm, this is a tough one for me. i like a lot of sage songs, but yes, there are some that i dont like. i didnt like eye of the tiger. the ones i hate are usually due to the beats...i guess it's somewhat soporofic. i usually prefer spoken word. with that said, i think hey bobby was better w/o beat. somebody mentioned something about Emperor's New Clothing beat not matching the song, i think it does and it's one of my fav beats and songs. i think mermaids are seasluts was just incredible. lyrically, sage is always awesome. i cant think of that many more that i dont like, but i know there are more...
