word on bang bang boogie, i always skip that one too.

and i know it's not by sage, but i always skip the political poem on unknown soldier. it was alright the first time, but after that it got old fast.

ok why is everyone hating on "cup of tea". that shit kicks ass. and i think it is the perfect length. same with "Next Testament" i think it was well done. im also defending free music. its how i found these songs and now ive got the PJ CD on order. dont hate the cheap people we just cant rely on other methods to find desent new music.

eviction notice... when you put it on the still sick tape i hated. by the time i copped personal journals, it was one of my favorites you ever did. it's creepy. makes me feel dirty listening to it.

and i like the new version of narcissist. that says alot considering how many times and how many different versions of it i've heard.

i didn't like alot of voice mail bomb threat.

just thought i'd add that.

Ya know, I don't know what my least favorite Sage song is, but the most disappointing track has definitely been "Hey Bobby." When I read the lyrics before the song was available, I was super hype for it. But, I was expecting an anti-war song to have a much more dismal or angry sound to it-- both in its beat and delivery. Instead, it's got great lyrics but strikes me as quite an indifferent sounding track. People will probably castrate me for that.

I also think the beat on "I apologize" is mixed horribly. I hate myself.

I actually agree with this about "Hey Bobby".

I'm glad it's not going to be on hope. That was a good decision.

Though I think the beat actually improved the sound of it over the spoken word track on Makeshift Patriot EP.

I don't like hey bobby much either, it doesn't have much soul comin across on the recording same with the beat, the message wasn't brought like it could have been.

Urine trouble is a good album with awesome concepts but for example the beat and recording of eye of the tiger just make me skip it although i love the lyrics and who it makes fun of.

i agree with narcisist. its boring and its a topic that is selective since many people dont really care what youre talking about. it felt like a spoken word recorded over a slow, last minute produced beat. i really dislike that one. also gun godz is pretty shitty, that reggae guy sounds like a big poser, hes got no flow or rhythym and it just sounds wack. finally, im not feeling the whole end of sick of waiting tables, once those freestyles hit, and than i apologize and trite, etc. the album kinda drops off for me...

one question though...

WHEN WILL THE EMPERORS NEW CLOTHING EVER BE RELEASED IN ITS ENTIRETY? ITS YOUR NICEST TRACK AND YOU GIVE US A SHITTY LITTLE ONE MINUTE SNIPPET!!! DID YOU EVER FINNISH THAT SHIT AND WILL WE EVER HEAR IT??

How to write a political poem is by Taylor Mali. Not Sage Francis.

I agree with you guys about Hey Bobby,

I'm out of that studio slump though.

that's what it was...a recording studio slump.

Evicition Notice and Hang Time are two of my favorites though

Eviction Notice is one of my faves, it's like Sage meets Kool Keith's Dr. Dooom. Probably my least fave is Makeshift Patriot, if only because I heard the live version from over a year ago with Gruvis Malt before I heard the studio one. The jumpy rhythm of the live one aided in conveying the urgency of the message, although the studio track had a bit BIGGER sound to it. But fuck, that was recorded so quickly after 9/11 this is understandable.

Y'all are bugging on that Hang Time shit.

And also...the REAL Narcissist (i.e. the song with the ORIGINAL FUCKING BEAT) is obviously superior to the old version.

As for MY least favourite songs, I'd have to say the only thing I CAN'T listen to is something with Sole's voice on it.

I think I have shitty musical tastes because a lot of the songs you guys are mentioning are my favourites. :-(

As per the Seger cover, I say "No fair! That's live!"
