Been reading so much about movies here lately, and I'm suprised I haven't seen Darren Arrenofsky's name come up.

Requiem for a Dream is one of the most amazing movies ever, and I think he's one of the world's best young directors. To go along with:

Coen brothers (Barton Fink, O Brother, Hudsucker Proxy)
Luc Besson (French) (Leon the Professional, Fifth Element)
Chris Nolan (Brit) (Following, Memento, Insomnia)
and... MICHAEL BAY.... HAHAHAHAHA

nah. fuck Michael Bay, his movies suck.

Yup. And you know he reused a lot of the same actors for Requiem?
The guy who played Max in pi was Jennifer Connoly's money fuck in Requiem. Strange huh? The bald head really throws ya.

requiem was cool but it felt more like a music video than a movie

the end sequence when shit goes downhill was pretty nutty

Arrenofsky's name would come up more if he had an easier name to spell.

His movies come up a lot round these parts.

I've soured on his work personally. It's kind of an embarrassing phase in my movie collection when I was all over Fincher, Ritchie, and Arranofsky.

And I think your severly deluded to think Michael Bay is a worse director than Aronofsky and his ilk.

For the most part Aronofsky's stock and trade is flash, flash flash. And who makes the flashiest pics around? Mike Bay.

He may not be trying to make preachy arthouse movies. But he's damn good at stringing together solid blockbuster after solid blockbuster.

His movies are enjoyable. I know it's not cool and intellectual to admit you enjoyed his movies, but Armagedon has a fucking critereon edition for chrissakes.

People don't appreciate summer movies like they should. You think they would considering how many bombs get released ever year by people who think all it takes is a few big names and some special effects.

those are just a few of the elements. it takes a guy like michael bay to make it work.

I'm actually excited about Bad Boys II. Gonna be a fun movie. Call me crazy but sometimes I like to be entertained when I pay my 8 bucks.
