I laughed, then I felt bad. Then I laughed again.

How the fuck would she know indeed.

She was straight up dumb. ahahah

how would she have even known how to structure a sentence properly? I bet the person that was around her all the time made it up and just told everyone that she said it like it was some sort of miracle

but then, if she was as smart as she was to be able to do all that shit in the first place, imagine how smart she would have been if she could see and hear.

she would have invented the palmcorder

why did I reply to this

Andvil,
Are you serious? She learned hand signals when her teacher forced her hand into certain shapes when she needed something. When she finally caught on she was able to learn more worlds. I think about this shit all the time and I am constantly amazed by what she was able to accomplish with such a shitty deal. I love how its fair ground to make her the butt of so many jokes when her accomplishments in life obviously put us all to shame.

But hey...we can see...we can hear...and we're men...so fuck that dumb bitch.

She obviously didn't have to be able to see, hear or speak to know that simple bit of knowledge that so many of us who can see, hear and speak don't. And she know so much more.

no I'm not serious

the stuff she learned to do is unbelieveably amazing

aside from knowing that she was deaf and blind, I'm pretty much totally ignorant to everything else she did. not by choice, well....I guess it is, I just never really took the time to find anything out. If i were deaf and blind I'd probably just give up...but I'm not so I wouldnt know what I'd do if I was

but I was serious about the part where I said she'd probably be a super genius if she could have seen or heard. Anyone who has the willpower to stick it out and accomplish anything whilst blind and deaf is a remarkable person, and she probably had the potential to do much more if she could see and hear, but we'll never know that. I mean, what else could you do though, if you were blind and deaf? Your only choice would be to learn how to cope with that situation, unless you just wanted to be a vegetable, then everyone around you would be pissed that you dont give a damn and just let you die

You have to give credit to her caretakers too. Today, it would be hard enough to deal with that type of situation, but back then I could only imagine. What saint would have taken their life and dedicated it to helping someone like that? Thats incredibly remarkable...
I think I sound like I'm a bad person by saying that, like I wouldnt help or anything....anyway
I'm done

But it IS true that she doesn't know the beauty of a sun set.

Or the beauty of my voice.

A large part of the beauty of a sunset is due to pollution in the atmosphere. But your drift is in my mitt.

Our perception of external stimuli pales in comparison to the feelings we create for ourselves
IMHO

I agree. I believe what Hellen Keller said to be true. But how does she KNOW that to be true? All she could do was speculate, and that's why that quote of hers is especially interesting to me. Her contention on what is most beautiful in this world is about as valid as any of ours, because I am sure that she's felt things that we never have.

Among so many other things. Students' knowledge of her life pretty much ends with her childhood.
