The subject says it all. This is the best post I've ever read on this board- not kidding. It was under the thread about Esoteric "dissing" Sage... and none of you suckers even acknowledged it. It read as follows...

word to esoteric. kinda.

you know, for a long time i thought the people writing honest, relevent lyrics in underground hip hop would result in a groundswell of intelligent, worthwhile music. i was sick of rappers rapping about absolutely nothing and how they rock the mic (which is ironic in esoteric's case because he "rocks the mic" so poorly).
then i realized where sage's (and buck's and sixtoo's and sole's et al) influence would get us: contrived songs from dumb white kids who barely muster a coherent thought, let alone an insightful one. so we have songs like mac lethal's about colors having sounds- sounding so incredibly forced and trite it almost makes you hate all that influenced them (almost). and we start to wonder: "why can't these kids just rap about how good they are?"
all that aside, the "my tree of life was more like a shrub" line was funny.
and i hate the term "nerd rap."

word to my man Icarus

There's Icarus, never missing a chance to hate on Maclethal.
What is so brilliant about that post?

I still like honest lyrics. I could care less what stupid white kids do with their influences. If it sounds dope I'll buy it.

Interpol does sound like Joy Division.
So what?

Also. There are plenty enough contrived songs about how good an emcees abilities may in fact be when put to the test.

No one is forcing you to support shitty music. Or at least I'm not.

Okay well i haven't slept in a day now so maybe this is all just random. I really don't know why the fuck this post is so "brilliant". I think it's a coherent post. Which is certainly something. Icarus is a smart cat, who knows how to express his views. I just don't really see why this is some life changing something...you know?

No way. I still say the best post on this board was an IM convo on the Strange Famous forum where some kid ended off, "Fine I like Slug better anyway."

if by "best," you mean "boring, unimaginative, and played out" then i agree.

i'd have to say the best post, if there is such a thing, would belong to a sage life-update (especially when he's unhappy or the gas isn't working) or an insightful ez board era jesse or an almanac-esque thesis from reggie.

but this one?
not.
even.
close.

this thread isn't that eye opening. definitely not the best. i'm not hating on icarus or anything, but what he said has been said many times. it boils down to this: if you don't like the music then don't buy/listen to it.

lyrics are definitely a good part of the song, and there are some lines that are just so intellectual and well-thought that it blows my mind. but basically it's this: if it sounds good, then cool. i'll listen.

if not, fuck it.

Isn't it a little disenchanting when your incessant attempts of shitting on me fail to be successful? I actually opened this thread hoping for entertainment or something.

Bless. Let it go. This isn't even fun to me anymore. I thought it was cute to have i-net beef with a 115 lb. pimply faced pussy from Rhode Island for a while. Now its making me absolutely disgusted in what hip-hop has become. How your anonymous and hidden faces continue to bolster this elitist morale is the most disheartening thing of it all. This chess club chip on your shoulder has got to stop!

I havent been influenced by Sage or anyone like that. I actually never heard Sage's music until we swapped cds in KC. I only saw him battle. I listen to old Ice Cube and Kool G Rap shit. I like Big L and Finesse. I like Masta Ace "Slaughtahouse" and I love Common Sense "Resurrection." I like 2Pac, The DOC, DJ Quik etc.

So no, there is not some Sage Francis or Sixtoo afflatus over me when I write. Ive just recently been turned on to Sixtoo and contacted him to let him know I enjoy his shit. His first stuff I heard was off Sage's album.

Oh yeah. My point is that I most certainly can "muster a coherant thought." Anyone who knows me or enjoys my music knows that. Infact if you ever dropped your pencil dick locker room games and shot 7 shades of honest shit with me you would see that. Instead you pop shit then put your tail between your legs in person. Dont argue with me or try to change around what happened. "You only 60 lbs. when you wet and wearin boots."

You and Icarus both. Kiss eachother, polish eachother's butt plugs. But remain off the dick. Some of us are getting worried that you guys might aspyhixiate yourselves if you dont come up for air.

By the way. Everyone make sure you pick up "HOPE" when it comes out. Its very dope. Its unlike anything I have ever heard.

I don't know why so many criticize Mac Lethal for being boring or wack when those adjectives can describe the vast majority of all rappers.
