Trust and respect.  Reply with quote

The listener in question needs to be able to trust the artist.

Remember, the artist has the say in what happens.

Trust them to make the right decision. They have their own (and of course, your) best interests in mind, so if you respect them in the slightest - trust them to have made the right decision.

I feel the same way, that's why I didn't think anything of it when Sage told me he would sell me a t-shirt at the "special" $40 price.

I just don't agree with this line of thinking. I want Sage to host TRL and be on the cover of Sassy magazine and I want him to be elected Mayor of Hollywood and I want his music piped into the elevators in the Mall of America. Only through others' validation can we really be sure of our own tangibility. If Sage's music starts to suck at any time, I have reserved the right to stop listening to it.

Me too.

major labels are:

A factory designed to produce remotely talented superficially beautiful human beings. Is run by a team of maniacal supervillians and teaches orphans imported from 3rd world countries to dance strangely and act slightly suggestive. When they reach the age of 14, they are sent out into the world after receiving a series of plastic surgeries. The supervillians are immensely rich and have also monopolized such companies as frito-lay, target, disney, microsoft, and mc.donalds.

It will only expose Sage to a bunch of pop-punk emo kids. which is no worse than underground hip-hop fans.

but for me, a sage francis fan, I will stay a sage francis fan, it will just make his music more accessible which is good.

I roll up my car windows and quietly bump nelly when nobody's listening.

I think it's catchy, like singing along with the Counting Crows' Mr Jones or Marcy's Playground's Sex And Candy...

"..i'm just KIDDing like Jason.."

He's got that clever wordplay that rivals Sage's.. :-O

his objective is waaay to low. anyone can do that.
sage does that as just a byproduct. you dont think people have fun and dance to sage's shit? yea they do, they also do that to every other hip hop artist also. that shouldnt be an objective, thats un-avoidable.
no matter what you rap about, people are gonna have fun and dance. so accomplishing that should not, by any standard, make him 'dope'.

if i wake up and breathe everyday, does that make me dope? no.
