the title of the thread is movies that are SLEPT ON  Reply with quote

yeah so,

Kurasawa is amazing, and aside from a couple well known classics (word to Rashamon, Seven Samurai and Yojimbo) not watched very much, but pretty much all his are really quality

the Red, Blue, White trilogy is damn good

Das Boot is a classic, intense

Myth of Fingerprints is a strange movie, kinda good, mostly just strange, it has roy shneider and noah wylie. the pacing is really methodical but the cinematography is really nice.

Whoever said Gostdog sucks is an idiot, seriously, you just have to flow with Jim's antireality style-and Dead Man is excellent too

also, I 2nd Ice Storm and Wellcome to the Dollhouse

Dogtown and Z-boys is a good documentary about the emergence of the skateboarding culture in Venice

lots of good pics, i have to get to downloading

Safe Men-Steve Zahn and Sam Rockwell doing their best shit ever.

Wet Hot American Summer-I don't think anyone said this...see it.

American Movie-See it

Hero-Jet Li's new one...not in the states yet, but I seen the Mandarin version, tightest ever.

and a bunch of others people said.

Yeah, Myth of Fingerprints is good, mostly because Noah Wylie is a dope, highly underrated actor.

Check out Michael Winterbottom's 24 Hour Party People and also Wonderland, which has an amazing score

Another good British film is Pure

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a comic gem that I dont think too many people have seen

I third Ice Storm and give thumbs down to Dogtown

- word up to that!

Twin Warriors (the Jet Li classic series.... great kung fu flic, some of the best bow fighting I've seen)

For anime:

Ninja Scroll

Blood: The Last Vampire

and I know everybody's probably heard of this but it's still great:

Thin Red Line.

i've only read the 10th page on this thread, so i don't know if these have been mentioned before...

waking life... it's like this twisted animation movie from the director of dazed and confused

run lola run... german movie in subtitles

going a little more mainstream on your ass.. The Salton Sea, with val kilmer, tweaker flick.

Pi... director of requiem for a dream, which is also a great movie.

man I had that same deal happen with that same mask movie. Only I was expecting to see Jim Carey. And I was young and foolish. So I watched like 15 minutes expecting Jim Carey to turn up and it was this kid with the mishapen skull.

not a good experience.

Incidentally, is that mask movie actually any good? I never watched all of it.
