Sage, now that your major and have the exposure, you should do a collabo with Wilf Carter. He can back you with a beatbox yodel rendition of Whore Monger Reprise. I think it'll be taken well by your fans, you can grow your beard into a funny shape like with 2 big circles on your cheeks and than raise the roof at VH1 awards.

At least we still have Victory Records.

it's also funny cuz Victory Records has a distribution deal with MCA[/quote]

its also funny because victory records is the major punk/hardcore label with the least amount of credibility.

to be completely honest, i dont think you can take anyone claiming to be uberpunk on the epitaph site/board seriously, because its one of the biggest indie labels out there and sports mainly very well known "punk" bands.

that being said, i think its a great position for sage precisely because its got a large audience and because epitaph doesnt really know much at this point about hiphop they are sort of forced to give him free reign.

Sage, the first thing you must do (if you haven't already) is go get an iced-out epitaph medallion.......if only to piss off those so called 'real punks'.

that shit would be pretty funny.

sage you need to shoot a video where you are all "g'd" out, lowrider, epitaph bling bling, etc. that shit would be pretty great. a post modern hip hop punk collage. it would be such a great way to introduce yourself to all these punk fans who dont know you.

-sidenote- i thought i had a straight hip hop playlist on the computer then melissa manchester "baby cried the day" came on. sage just listen to her words and you'll never go wrong in any of your decisions

"i told her. dont cry outloud, just keep it inside and learn how to hide your feelings. fly high and proud and if you shall fall, remember you almost had it all" (Manchester 34).

Being a person who, at one time, was neck deep in the punk culture...

You will soon learn that there are a top 1% of punks who will blow your mind away with what they know... and 99% that are so insanely idiotic you pray for the destruction of humanity. Thank God for that 1%.... thank God.

really... for all those complaining about what "punk" actually is, they should go and read Greg Graffin's essay on what the meaning of the word is in his opinion. Quite thought provoking. www.badreligion.com

Despite the apparent disgust of alot of hip hop and punk heads... both these genres and groups are very very like minded in the mentality, way of thinking, and then their attitudes derived from their culture that are more than often contradictory to them.
I make no sense.
Bah.

What a genius marketing move on Epitaph and Sage's part. I mentioned to some of my friends that are into punk, that Epitaph signed a hip hop artist. Now they want to check Sage out. Had Sage signed to some normal indie hip hop label (rhymesayers, anticon, def jux), he would have never exited the realm of underground hip hop.
Considering Epitaph's ties to major rock stations, I guarantee these rock stations are going to start playing Sage, much like they play Beastie Boys.
In the end, Sage gets more exposure.
