Jared Paul poetry gigs in New England, Nov 2012  Reply with quote

Hey hey,

I'm doing a show at Brown with some of my favorite local poets this weekend:
*Laura Brown-Lavoie, 2011 Providence Slam Champ & Tedx feat. poet

*Aaron Samuels, Write Bloody Publishing author & TV One’s “Verses & Flow” feat poet

*Franny Choi, 2011 Women of the World Poetry Slam Finalist and 2010 Seoul Korea Slam Champ

I've curated the program for the evening and every poem will be dope. We've got Martinos Auditorium at the Granoff Performing Arts Center, which is one of the best performance arts venues in Prov. And thanks to the sponsorship of a bunch of student groups the event is FREE and open to the public. Doors at 8p, show at 9p.

The venue is right off Thayer Street and is super easy to get to. Capacity iso 225. 130 seats are already reserved.

The Big Show is TONIGHT! Excited to announce that all 200 seats made available via Eventbrite.com have been reserved! If you haven't reserved a ticket you can still get into the show, but it is very important that you get to the Granoff as close to 8p as possible. There will be a short waiting list for the few seats left, for any reserved tickets that go unclaimed, and for whatever limited standing room the venue might allow. Doors at 8p, show starts as soon as the room is full! Martinos Auditorium, Granoff Performing Arts Center / Brown University. 145 Angell St. SEE YOU THERE!!

*Many many thanks to the Brown University Branch of the International Socialist Organization (www.internationalsocialist.org) for being the lead sponsor for this event! And to our allies and co-sponsors the Student Labor Alliance, Anti-War Action, and WORD for making tonight possible!

What's it like doing poetry at an Ivy League school? I hope everything went well.

It's like most other college shows. Depends on which student group / org within the school is planning the show. I've played Princeton, Brown, and UPenn before. They've all been solid shows. I think this jam at the Terrace is gonna be legit. The folks planning it sound excited...
