More and more it seems like facebook has been the place I go when I want to feel like more of a failure, as most of my friends gloat about their sweet jobs and fancy vacations. It's also a place I can go to learn about all manner of so-called white people problems.

Been facebook free for around 6 months now. Haven't missed a beat.

I still really hope social media starts back peddling. Twitter is starting to get annoying too with the promo tweets and shit.

Follow less musicians and athletes. Follow more actual people. And that will fix that.

If you're looking for a new lens on Twitter I highly recommend http://stellar.io

The concept is essentially - instead of following everything from individuals you follow their favourites. Follow the right peoples favourites and it makes for good content with less crap.

I don't follow Ice T but found this gem from him on Stellar earlier today

Not sure if this is what Limbs is referring to or not, but there are now "promoted tweets" that companies pay to have appear in people's timelines. Are you saying that they pay to reach followers of certain celebrity accounts, or do you just mean that celebrities mostly use their accounts to promote their stuff?

i reckon Futuristxen misunderstood.

The promo tweets don't bug me much. I've found that my eye naturally skips over any name or icon I don't recognize. I'm guessing it works that way for most people. Once the advertising Gods figure this out, they will attach their ads to the tweets your friends make.

I deleted my FaceSpace about 4 months ago, it's suprisingly liberating. Its crazy how people look at you when they say they tried to add me and I just say "yeah, I don't do that"

Although I do miss chatting with MichaelKhill on there.

PS: to actually *delete* your Facebook you gotta use an app that goes through your entire history and deletes each pic, like, photo, and comment individually. i havent got around to it yet but my brother says my pics and posts still show up as ads on there.

Shame, you're missing out on a funny thread about Snoop w/ a guy named Tony. Sage wiped his ass w/ a few people. Funny stuff.

Once you delete all your stuff, it's still on Facebook's servers forever and they own it. Just change your password to something ridiculous enough that you'll never remember, write that password down on something, deactivate your Facebook and throw the password away so you can never log back in.

They have your stuff. Deleting it is pointless.

Weird. I don't think I've ever seen a promo tweet like that. I must super super not pay attention to things I don't recognize.

this is why this message board is such a unique experience in 2012..
no avatars.. no signatures... just a name and a city.
you're forced to read more because there are less visual clues..

Real conversations are dead. If you can't say it in eighteen words or less it's not worth saying.

Picutres are worth a thousand words...

So... A generated meme is worth one thousand and a handful words.
