| Shane Hall's song for his mother |
|
|
Because messiah carey doesn't come around many places on the internet very often anymore, I thought I'd bring this here.
Shane Hall wrote: Because I don’t know how to deal with things any other way, here is the first early release of a track from the Peasants & Kings album I’m doing with my friends in the TickleBomb Orchestra.

I’ll never forget, she died an hour after Thanksgiving came to a close in 2010. I had a studio session with my dear old friend and New Alliance’s audio ninja Jonathan Taft the next morning. I got there and said “My mom died last night”. He said “What the fuck are you doing here?” and I said “What the fuck else am I going to do?”
I love and miss you every single day, Patricia Hall, you’re the best person I’ll ever have the pleasure of knowing and I still can’t imagine my life without you EVEN WHILE I’M LIVING IT THIS WAY.
It was strange, it was confusing, but really - what would we change? Still don’t know whether to call you my mother or my grandmother. I remember where I was standing when I explained that challenge to you. Thanks for trying your best to give the tools to fight a crazy world, within and without.

So much. I include it on almost every mixtape I give out to people. I still do things like that. Haha. |

God, stuff like this makes me realize how big of a wreck I'm going to be when my mom goes.

RIP, Patricia.
Fuck.
Haven't heard this in a while. So raw and perfect. Gotta make sure the people we love the most know how we feel. Dang, Shane. This song is a goddamned gem. |

There are plenty of people here actually qualified to answer this, but he does update his Facebook quite a bit and from that he seems to be keeping busy with music and touring here and there. I've actually only met the guy briefly as well, at the Boston show of the Church of Love and Ruin tour last year, and I geeked out a little when I realized it was him because I was a big fan of his postings when I first started to come around here. Anyways, I'm sure one of the people who really knows him could give a better update, but if you friend him on Facebook he seems to do a pretty good job there of keeping people up-to-speed. |

Shane is currently wrapping an album that this song is for, with his group The Ticklebomb Orchestra, and also working on a real rap album, which I am personally really excited about.[/code] |

Is this song not on Basic Draining? I'm convinced I'd heard it somewhere before. Either way, it's a terrific song. |

Yeah, the original version is on Basic Draining. This version is a re-make with the orchestra. |
