El-P wrote: My very good friend passed away, and that made its way into who I was when I was making the album. It was hard for me to wrap my head around; it got me thinking about death and living a lot. Something like that is so big that you almost don't want to approach it directly. So the album process started out with a tragedy, and I ended up with a record about wanting to live.
In my head, the record is about dealing with the idea that you are the problem and everything else isn't. That's the "Cancer for Cure". We have that destruction in us, whether we run with it or not. I have a tendency to dip my foot in self-destructive behavior. I struggle with that, but it's also a world perspective. There's a segment of the world that looks at the average individual like me and you as the problem-- something to be solved, an annoyance or a blight on an otherwise potentially perfect world. All the mechanisms and manifestations of that line of thought are in all the shit that's going on right now. This is a fight record. Like, "Goddamn it. Enough is fuckin' enough."

Well goodness help me, I've gone in for the G-money vinyl preorder.
I remember when I used to spend a hundred bucks on like FIFTEEN new singles and albums every couple of weeks. Now I get a few crazy things like this every six months.
I'm very excited, though. I have faith in these projects. |

Jesse - unrelated - but your exchanges with Dante Ross on Twitter were extremely entertaining. |

I'M WORRIED FOR HIS EMOTIONAL WELLBEING.
I walked past him, El-P, Action Bronson, Himanshu, and Despot a LOT in the hotel at SXSW. Oh and Riff Raff. Despot was the only one I had the guts to big up. |

I used to hate Riff Raff, until I found out he was just acting. Now I love the dude...genius. Yes, props to riff raff.

Riff Raff really is hilarious.
Crazy that James Franco is playing him in Harmony Korine's new movie, also starring Gucci Mane. |

I just re-listened to ISWYD today and remembered how fucking dope it is. I'm not in love with all of the tracks, but the ones that bang, BANG. Now I'm even more excited for this new album. |

Naw man, I haven't seen it yet. It's on my to do list. Some day. I think about Twin Peaks on a regumar basis though, especially in consideration of how the show started versus how it ended. But that's a tale for a different thread. |
