So how much closer does this get us to the point where we can have sex with robots?

I just got on last night. It's not bad. I could see this causing some issues for Facebook in a year or two.

I'd like to test it out now as we will probably be using it on my work's Google domain. I need to be able to tell them whether this thing will actually be useful for internal comms.

Edit: nvm. Got one.

Supposedly Google is working on a version for businesses, to be released sometime in the future.

My thoughts on G+:

Gmail users are the core of G+'s user base. In fact, if you don't have a Gmail account you are missing out on G+ is supposed to do: tie the entire Google experience together (i.e. youtube, search, buzz, picasa, etc) In the short-term to medium term this is a good thing. G+'s user base of Gmail users will help G+ become established as a social networking site.

However in my opinion, if having a Gmail account becomes a registration requirement then G+ will have trouble expanding into the mainstream beyond the tech/nerd/Gmail crowd. And if this is the case, it reminds me of when Facebook required a ".edu" email address to signup for an Facebook account. Facebook wanted to tie the college experience together by ensuring that only users in the realm of academia could register an account. Eventually Facebook dropped his requirement to expand into the mainstream beyond the college crowd.

Its way too early to determine the fate of G+ and it depends on how Google develops the site over the next few years.

Two immediate drawbacks I've detected on G+

1) I can delete and edit my own posts, but I can't delete anyone else's comments. Everyone eventually faces pesky trolls, especially public figures. So...this needs to change.

2) When I post a link on Facebook I am able to adjust the wording in the info section of the link. This is a function I love. I can't do that on G+
