atmosphere - fishing blues  Reply with quote

i've only listened to it a few times, but i dig it. love the production by ant and g-koop. love the nuances and layers they added to the sound. has more of a summer feel to it than southsiders did, imo.

what does everybody think of it?

I like it much more than the full band albums they were putting out for a while. Overall it's good, but a bit too laid back for my taste. I like a pissed off Slug. I would kill for another You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having type of record. But, 7/10...would bang again

Seismic Waves is my jam. Not sure why, but the last minute is so bad-ass

I haven't bought it yet but I think I read somewhere it has 6-7 featuring rappers, is that true? Of course they do what they want and change up their style but that more feat. then have been on all of their albums combined.

Yeah, there's 6. After how great The Impossible Kid was I'm surprised how bored Aesop Rock sounded. His features are usually great but this one felt phoned in

here is the thing about atmosphere. slug has found a style that he is comfortable with and has not veered from it on the last many records. they all sound like the same record, as far as flow goes. not a bad thing, just nothing new from them.

same thing happened with method man. he used to have a fresh style and then suddenly he found this comfortable groove that he hasn't been able to escape from.

i listened to this record. its not bad, but if i want to listen to sluggo i will put on Overcast! or Lucy Ford. I'm stuck in the past, man.

I feel like he's just been lecturing his kids for a few albums now. I'm sure his kids appreciate it. I'm not his kid tho.
