You dudes missed the point. As of now, Headcase is just spouting religious platitudes that are essentially meaningless and easily dismissed by everyone else. Like the new vegetarian who inserts "meat is murder" into a thread about bacon, with no real thought.
If Headcase sticks with the religion a couple years, then I imagine a fruitful discussion can happen at that time. But right now he/she is just talking like the newly converted. |

I have been living this life for a couple years already and all that does is reaffirm my beliefs. I've gone through trials such as the loss of my 1 week old son and still haven't lost faith. I've been through some rough seasons and God has always lifted me up. I've grown from those experiences and trust God more. |

Seriously, headcase isn't uninteresting and kinda lame because he's a Christian, he'a uninteresting and kinda lame because his Christianity doesn't seem particularly thoughtful. An aggressively Christian reading of HTDD could be very interesting, but it's clear that headcase's aggressively Christian reading of HTDD would not be. It would be boring. It would be a manner of cherry-picking the album for disembodied moments and shoving them through the Christian noob sausage grinder. It would be analogous to his treatment of life itself: finding evidence for the Christian God everywhere without deigning to seek first. Sorry, but the maintenance of your faith through alcoholism and the tragic loss of your son is not evidence for the truth of your faith, as much as it's further evidence that people in desperate situations often drift toward structures that relieve them of some degree of agency.
But, like I said, there could easily be a very thoughtful, conversation provoking Christian voice here. I know some very thoughtful Christians who often enrich my understanding of faith. I don't think headcase can do that yet.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your son. That has to be unbelievably hard.
But all you are doing is speaking in platitudes, and not offering any insight into religion, or why any of us should believe that God and Jeebus are anything more than a figment of your imagination. |

Look, I wasn't on here prove my faith. I said something in defense of what I believe in. I don't belittle anyone for not being a believer. I know what science says. It's just faith. That's all I have to say. |
