"Homeland security starts with hometown security, and each of us plays a critical role in keeping our country and communities safe," said DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano. "I applaud Walmart for joining the ‘If You See Something, Say Something' campaign. This partnership will help millions of shoppers across the nation identify and report indicators of terrorism, crime and other threats to law enforcement authorities."

LOL @ "hometown security"
Just another reason why Wal-Mart is bad for communities. "Don't trust your neighbors! Report them to your local... Wal-Mart!" |

When I was laid off earlier this year, I worked at a Walmart for around 4 months until I found something better. Since leaving, I still talk to some people that still work there.
2 nights ago, management of the store announced something during a nightly meeting with the staff. I thought this was funny........
A man was in Walmart for 8 hours walking around. During this 8 hours, he slowly loaded up 2 full fullsize suitcases w/ blu-ray movies. During this 8 hours, not 1 employee noticed him. He ended his Walmart visit w/ a trip to lawn and garden, where he threw the 2 suitcases over the fence, where he then climbed out and walked off w/ a shitload of Blu-Ray movies.
Walmart can't stop their own stuff from walking out the door, much less stop terrorism. Most people I worked w/ could barely count. |

I wonder if "falling prices" are a threat to hometown security. |

I remember this campaign from riding the amtrak/metro. It's nothing substantial, just another symbolic PR gesture encouraging snitch culture. |

snitch culture? you wouldn't snitch on a terrorist?
the times square bomb plot was foiled when a street vendor noticed a suspicious vehicle and notified a cop.
i'm sure there are plenty of bullshit involved - people "saying something" after they notice a brown guy with a beard - but this isn't a pointless program. |

Yeah, it's totally worth the paranoia. We're under attack! Especially at our nation's Walmarts. |

i was thinking this was a perfect (well, maybe not perfect) example of why terrorist groups dont need to launch another attack. |

Our response to attacks meant to provoke fear is to stay in a state of fear on some "na na na can't touch us" bullshit. It's unfortuntate that the aims of terrorists are the same as the national media, and political system. Fear eats the soul, and there's a lot of people living fat at the top here.
Horror would seem to be the only genre worth working in anymore. |

it still a concern that people are being encouraged to make and to voice security complaints and concerns regarding other citizens to a company that has nothing to do with "law and order". oh crap i cant get a loan, someone complained to walmart about their fears that i am a terrorist, now i'm black listed.
i'd like to know what devices are in place to guarentee the security of the information taken about citizens, and what their rights are to guarentee any information gained by walmart is not kept or sold once any allegations are resolved. or more importantly in terms of distribution, before they're resolved. |
