When were these put in place? The last time I flew was in April/May, and the pat down was a little more involved than the previous year (I opted out of the stupid ass scanner....F that thing and its cancerousness), but no one touched my boobies or my vagine. |

You guys know that the radiation from the scanner is roughly equivalent to the rads you pick up in about 2 minutes of actually sitting in the airplane during a flight.... |

This may be the best terrorism deterrent ever. If the jihadists who flew the planes into the WTC instead got their nuts touched by a TSA agent, they may have taken up blogging instead of suicide bombing. |

I know this is weird and maybe even stupid to say, but what stops a terrorist from snatching up a couple babies and smooshing one of its heads as a warning? Just as a warning. Hypothetically speaking. I mean, there are a bunch of ways to work around any kind of screening process if you're determined to fuck up a flight. No? I don't know. Nevermind me. Go on, feel my nuts. Just make sure these lines move along at a tolerable pace. Thanks, Rape Gate. |

Fuck's sake. Pretty soon it's going to be strip searches and full rectal examinations. Getting on a plane is like being received into a prison. I'm taking the train. |

Yeah, been hearing a lot about this. It's bullshit. A poorly focused effort. And what exactly is their justification for all this? What is this preventing that previous regulations weren't? How many attempted bombers or hijackers has the TSA actually caught? Oh, zero.
Unfortunately I have to fly tomorrow and on Tuesday. Enjoy the show TSA. |

Actually, the issue is that no one knows that, because it has yet to be adequately studied - there IS, however, some concern that the concentration and distribution of X rays people are receiving may be too intense, and capable of increasing mutation rate in skin, blood, and germline cells. Of course, the assertion that it's unsafe is currently speculative, but unfortunately, so is any belief in the absolute safety of this thing. |

pretty soon we're all gonna have to change into a special flying outfit suit that everyone has to wear if you want to fly. then these lines will look really strange. |

TSA has definitely been over-the-top for a while now. My boyfriend is diabetic and wears a pump. He is detained nearly every time we go to the airport, which is normal. We usually plan ahead for this, but we flew from Denver to Minneapolis this summer and they were absolutely ridiculous about it. They detained him in the cube for a few minutes. They did the full body scan/pat down and then ran some of his articles of clothing through their little machine. Something on the bottom of his flip flop made the machine go off, so they proceeded to unpack ALL of his carry-on and run each item through the machine. We missed our flight because they closed the gate fifteen minutes before the flight (it sucked to stand there and watch our plane leave the gate).
On the way back, he decided not to tell them about his pump unless they noticed it. He walked through security with no problems. We haven't told TSA about the insulin pump since (even though you're required to do so) because it's such a hassle.
Fuck sacrificing freedom for safety. |
