This is really sad to hear. I met him for the first time about 6 weeks ago when he came through Portland as a special guest on tour with several rappers. Everyone stayed at my house and we had a massive freestyle session over acoustic guitars and beats. He gave me a book of awesome poems by him and his grandmother. RIP to an amazingly creative and genuinely nice person.

Awful news.

The first time I ever heard Eyedea was on that track "Savior."

His talent was one of a kind. He amazed me and will be missed.

Eyedea's battle with Peace in '99... so crazy how a 17 year old was taking it to such a legend. And won.

First time I saw him live was '02. He opened for Aceyalone at SOB's. Was easily the best performer of the night. Another show at the Knitting Factory with Abilities, Blueprint and Illogic stands as one of the best shows I've been to.

He ripped so many tracks. Even Shadows Have Shadows. That track with Sole and Pedestrian. Man vs Ape. The second E&A has gotten regular rotation since it was released. I haven't bumped Oliver Hart in a while. I will do so tomorrow.

I haven't been this effected by a rapper's death in quite some time. He was clearly so much more and I feel for everyone who knew him.

RIP Eyedea.

Embarrassment, its between insecurity and arrogance, im a machine with a clarity I can barely grip.

Lol...so dope...I hadn't listened to that track in a long time...probably my fav collab track ever...I have to pick up the rest of eyedeas catalog man...I have been listening to shit all day I had heard but just skimmed really...had my five or six songs I really liked and play a lot, but I really slept on some good shit.

Damn.

"Champion...EYEDEA!!!"

This is a huge loss for Rhymesayers, hip hop, and the world at large. From Blaze to First Born to Oliver Hart to the last E & A joint, Eyedea ripped the mic with a ferocious nasal flow. His speed raps were nothing short of gold, and the man didn't know the meaning of a throwaway line. You will be missed, brother.
