Yeah I heard he was intelligent and funny. That doesn't really go counter to anything I'm saying.
I think I'll consider this idea about another comic though. A not dead one. Maybe the guy who was the parrot in Aladdin.

He was funny and intelligent, guys! Seriously!!! You just don't know because he wasted it all on being a piece of shit!

Oh snap. That was my "Roast in Peace" tribute.

Boom. You can't defend someone whose demise has been reduced to a roasting session. I see you trying to do it, but boom...

to be fair, you're the only one reducing him to roast status. it seems most people in this thread enjoyed him. i don't see the big deal, he did drugs & died from it. A LOT of entertainers that we ALL listen to are druggies. doesn't change our enjoyment of them.

I don't care about the drugs. Why are you projecting that on me? I don't care about that at all. I'm talking about his legacy. The whole thing depresses me actually. This supposedly great, kind and brilliant man is known mainly for taking the dumpiest dumps. So many nasty dumps in fact that it's totally righteous to take a dump on his death as a tribute. An homage really.

Someone should dig up his body, stick their hand through a hole in the back of his neck, and make his mouth move to the sound of, "Hey kids...don't be like me...do something better with your brilliance."

ah, man. He'd love this joke.

People fail to realize this guy did a lot more than roasts. He had a reputation as a good comic prior to being selected to be a "roaster". Its not really fair to make broad generalizations using the little piece you got from the mainstream comedy source. Thats like watching the Osbournes and thinking Ozzy is famous for being on a reality show. Besides, Roasts are meant to be mean and all parties involved know what they are getting into. The Roastees know its all for the love and not personal. So, a casual understanding of Roasts, mixed with limited exposure to one facet of this guy's career just earns him a big "Fuck this asshole"?

It's weird that his legacy is roasts for some people. And by some people I mean Raoul and Sage.

I mean he was on tough crowd more hours than the Friars Club Roasts. And he spent more time doing his act than he did on either of those.
