Why bother with an impostor version of something that is consumed 2 weeks out of the whole year tops?

Drink the real egg nog or nothing.

Because it's better. That's my point. Read, man.

Never tried Silk Nog... I trust your palette, so I'll check it out. Not a huge nog fan but I always have to drink some for the holidays... would be a good reason to buy some decent bourbon too... been drinking nothing but beers lately.

I agree with the sentiment of this article.

An eggnog aficionado is not going to be satisfied with the Silk nog and will probably enjoy the heavier stuff, but the Silk nog is tasty - and at only 90 calories and 2 grams of fat per serving, it's a holiday treat worth having.

Like most things that are overly rich or bad for you I prefer the real deal, not the lowfat or reduced version of it because its a rare thing to begin with.

I don't drink decent bourbon in it. Those are for Manhattan's, Old Fashioneds, and drinking neat. I put Beam in this.

I used to be neutral on the nog issue, until about 8 years ago when I worked at a coffee shop during winter and had to make about ten thousand egg nog lattes. They are the greatest perversion of beverage I have ever encountered. The smell of steamed egg nog is nauseating, and you end up with flecks of steam-blasted, partially-cooked nog boogers in your face. I haven't been able to stomach the stuff since.

Maybe it would work with the silk-stuff, but I'm certainly not going to be the one to find out.

I'm with you. I prefer the real deal usually for most things. But egg nog is a fucking meal. I enjoy it, like I said, but if I have some, it's like 4 oz. then I'm full. And the 1 oz of liquor in it did nothing for me. Silk Nog, though, tastes the same without the weight. I can drink a whole carton in one sitting.

Also, I want to second eggnog lattes. Silk Nog doesn't do the latte so well.

I can get down with Silk nog, especially over the holidays. I had a vegan roommate in Philly who was friends with this woman named Vedika who made deserts for Govindas/Gourtmet to Go on Broad & South, and she made him a vegan Silk Nog cheesecake. Holy shit that was good.

It's weird that I poured myself a mug of Silk Nog just before I sat down to check out the ole forum. It's so damn good. Nog should be produced all year round.

Why do vegans insist on copying my food?

Go invent your own foods!

Silk nog...ha. You're fooling no one!
