Unstable government with nuclear power in Pakistan.

More or less why we are there?
The reading i have done on this, many have said that Pakistan is the realest threat we have. (Ashcar and Chomsky)
pakistan's government is not unstable, it is embattled. it might have a coup now and then but the idea that the taliban is going to get its hands on the button to launch missiles is crazy. loose nukes in the former soviet states is a much more substantial threat. |

I'm sorry your song didn't get the feedback you were looking for Michael. Can you send me the link? I'll give it a listen and get back to ya.
Here are the lyrics to my ridiculous beeeyotching on the Track:
"It was November 08,
my home state was Blue, no New England was Red
so I threw my weight up in, a swing state instead
8 years of this damn war, couldn't face it to lose
so i drove to New Hampshire, walked'em straight to the booth
trooped the whole district holdin' signs and workin' phones
6am Election Day until the polls closed
then got back on the damn line, callin' Alaska
up to Wascilla, still gunnin' for Sarah
I ain't no Democrat, but this was fate by the throat
I believed in your promise, now where did it go?
Guantanamo's still open, Single Payer got dropped
this Bail Out was murder, tent cities popped up in the park!
Rendition's still on the table with no investigation
of war crimes or blatant Israeli invasion
man, what's the matter with you? Audacity's Hope
but you ain't done what you said or what we sent you to do...
My President is black, we still can't relax
this war won't stop itself, Single Payer ain't passed
My money's on the Movement, we're not gonna stop
gotta keep on workin' black President or not." |

And the thread gets bumped again! haha. Fuckin'...fix that crack on your windshield! And MMMC's song was more topical than a South Park episode. |

eh, you're right on that. poor choice of words on my part. what i'm trying to say is that in pakistan, the taliban is no where near taking down the government. the military is very strong and very secular. yes the ISI does has some worrisome ties to the afghan taliban and yes pakistan does has a long history of coups but they've been mostly bloodless (except for a few notable executions). it's not two sides vying for power - it's the military stepping in when they think the government is fucking things up too bad. there's a big difference between those two.
i think the news likes to portray pakistan as a nuclear power on the verge of collapse because it makes good headlines but that's really not the case. it's a relatively stable country that's under siege from some angry radicals from bumblefuck. they have enough resources and know how to do some serious damage (thanks to years of hands off approach and even assistance from the govt) but i think the military is going to get this under control now that they realize how serious it is. they need to stop worrying about india and start focusing on they monster they helped create. in fact, these days they have more in common with india than ever before. |

i've been thinking about this fucking thread for the past few weeks. it sometimes infuriates me.
i've decided that i'm gonna try to re-write the chorus for "my president" this weekend do be more concise with my message before i do the official release of "nuclear winter."
although for the most part, people who jumped on "my president is black and that dont mean jack" i think hijacked my shit and ran in a direction with what i was saying that i think is wrong, and i don't agree with... however, people's perceptions are never wrong, and its important for me to not to be misunderstood.
so in that regard, thanks.
the "white privilege" mix will be infamous though. |

my two cents...which has nothing to do with the implications or misinterpretations of the original chorus.
you should keep the rhyme scheme the same in the parody as the orignal song. they dont rhyme my prez is black with the next line they use the third to make a totally different rhythm. when you rhyme the first two it just sounds off to me ie my prez is black and that dont mean jack. i think its throwing people off and making them think about things like white privilege etc. |

im gonna say... "my president is black, and thats cool and shit...
but i wont call you president till you show me your birth certificate...."
. gotta wait for my mother in law to leave so i can record it though!
and for the record, this is not a parody.
its less of a parody actually, then the version of "this land is my land" they sing in elementary schools. (... the socialist messages are taken out of the woodie guthrie version). in the mainstream world, everyone is reworking each others' tracks, kind of covering them, but adding their two cents and making it a new song. its in the folk tradition, a song is passed down, improved, changed, adapted to fit the times.... so why does it make it parody when i do it? is calling my shit a parody.... is that like... reverse-reverse-reverse racism? black hole racism? white dwarf racism? is it kneejerk-faux-libertarian-collegeboy-selfhate-backtalk? what is the meaning of life? |

Okay. I JUST woke up, so maybe I'm just out of it and I can't make sense of this, but are you actually saying that you are a birther?? Like, Glenn Beck type of birther? Or do you have a real concern that Obama wasn't born in our country? Maybe I'm just not detecting the sarcasm in it, but it's unexpected to think you are a birther, if that's the case. |

Um, it is a parody. You took a popular song and changed the chorus around to something controversial while preserving the meter and rhythm of the original chorus. You even share a lot of the same words as the original chorus. To act dumbstruck by people's reactions in this thread is ludicrous. You can't be oblivious to the irony of two white guys saying that their president is black and it doesn't mean jack...and how this is also a great piece of evidence for white privilege. I mean, I thought this was one purposefully, to stir up controversy and get people to listen to the song/album. If not, if you really think there is an important message being obfuscated by the chorus...smh |
