also, my mom really liked michael jackson. i remember thriller and born in the usa very distinctly in early childhood.

Your mom sounds just like my mom. I remember listening to Born in the USA and Thriller time after time with her in the van, as well as healthy doses of Don Henley, Amy Grant, and Garth Brooks.

My mom listened to a lot of Led Zepplin, Jethro Tull, The Doors, Jim Croce, Bon Jovi, Journey, and Genesis a lot while I was growing up. Ha.

I forgot about Led Zep and Genesis and/or Phil Collins. My mom is awesome!

In the context of my mom having their CDs, yes. There's a point in your life when one wants to assume they found all the good shit they listen to.

There is something inside me that prevents me from taking Bruce seriously. I just can't do it. I've tried. I don't know. I'm this way with certain artists. I just have a block of some sort.

He must be good and sincere based on the amount of people that love his music, but for whatever reason, the sound and the themes just don't mesh well in my brain.

Maybe it was all the Bon Jovi that I listened to as a kid.
