I watched RANE, (the wounds)
(found it by youtubing the mixer brand,,the whole film is up on there)
This film follows two Belgrade youths on their rise to gangster legends in a decaying society. (the lead "pinki"has died from a heroin O.D since)

ALSO,
THE PUSHER trilogy,
the original gritty danish gangster film had parts 2 and 3 made to bail out the directors company from a boxoffice flop,
all real, dirty and engaging.

Amazingly I have not seen any Cassavettes films. But my partner is a huge fan. So she sent me this today:
<param></param>
I was already excited to see Cassavettes stuff, but now more so.
This is from Minnie & Moskowitz
Brilliant. |

Just watched Butley. Alan Bates is brilliant. The script is brilliant. If you love clever mind twisting dialouge, enclosed spaces, and the generalized destruction of a man's spirit as he rages against the whole thing the whole way through--it's a bit like watching an angry sea captain curse out the ocean as he sinks in the most wonderful words.
I definitely recommend it. If you've not seen it. If you have. Then there you go. |

I believe it was principally because many of his movies that I wanted to see were unavailable for the longest time. I remember trying to rent The Killing of a Chinese Bookie before, and it was out of print at Netflix.
I've also never seen any Fassbinder.
Fortunately my partner owns most of the movies from both directors, so both of these errors will be fixed. |

Tell No One turned out to be awesome. For some reason I was under the impression that it was a horror movie but it turned out to be a straight-up French thriller. The main dude (who looks like the French equivalent of Dustin Hoffman) was fantastic in the lead role, as was everyone else in the film. Even the dude that played Etienne in The Beach, in his short role. I was trying to guess what was up the whole time. Highly recommended. |

Cube 2: Hypercube is one of the funniest movies i have ever seen, and I refuse to watch Cube for fear that it will make sense of Cube 2: Hypercube.

I saw Moon on Friday and it was a great movie. Can't recommend it enough. Its directed by Duncan Jones (who is David Bowie's son) and stars Sam Rockwell as an Astronaut and Kevin Spacey as the voice of a Hal-like computer. Its a nod back to old school space movies but is done very well and it has some powerful messages in it. For his directorial debut, Jones really came off like a seasoned pro.
Its not playing in too many theaters, but if you can find one - GO SEE IT! |

Thought Cube was a pretty decent film. I also saw Hypercube and Cube Zero (at least, pretty sure about Cube Zero). Both were way more ridiculous than Cube and the explanation of the cube in Cube Zero was really lame. |
