New Art Stuffs  Reply with quote

i went back a few pages and didnt see any recent art works from anyone so im starting a new thread for new works of art.....redundant i know

so after seeing Ed Hardy shoes going for $150 and what not i decided to venture into the custom sneaker world to dabble for a bit

i do realize i have quite a long way to go before im on the same shelf as Ed Hardy and Co. but these are my first 2 pairs ever so cut me some slack!

and some new black and white ink drawings

i have about 50 of these black and white drawings that are pretty much booze and drug induced doodles, experimenting with some new shit here and im not quite sure where this is headed but thats what i been workin on lately.....

I think I'd like the shoes more if there were on an off-white, or maybe a different color entirely. White shoes get sullied way too quick.

painting on fabric is hard- these look good, your lines are nice and crisp and the paint is uniform in thickness.

i would love to see some heinous color combo like navy, orange, lilac, and buttercup yellow and maybe a bunch of grayed-down neutrals with one obnoxious color like safety yellow.

why didn't you foot model these bad boyz?

------

EDIT: I didn't want to make a separate thread for this and figured I may get some advice in this arty thread.

So, next Wednesday I have an incredibly important interview for my dream job: building large scale, elaborate displays for a store. You get your own CRAFT ROOM (!!!) and get to fill it with whatever supplies you need for the current piece you're working on. There are wishy-washy themes/ inspirations to follow, you work alone, and its pretty much the best thing ever.

I already had the phone interview and they want me to bring my portfolio to the in-person interview. Great! Grand! Wonderful! Only... I don't have one, none of my past jobs have required me to show a portfolio, so where to begin?

Here's my questions:

1) The big debate- how many pieces? I've heard everything from "absolutely no more than 10" to "18-20 of your favorite works". I want a good representation of what I can do without it being completely overwhelming and boring.

2) What should I include? The position is so multi-faceted (construction, merchandising, fine and folk art, etc.)... some projects, like one I just did, had so many details that just one photo will not do justice IMO.

3) Photos? Actual pieces? Or a mixture of the two? Lots of my work was on location and I only have photos to show, but what about other works? Photos or the real deal?

I'm with zagadka, can't go wrong with some obnoxious colors. Looks damn good for a first run. Very Clean.

Here's my latest painting. Sorry for the glare, I can't seem to get a clean picture.

Painting is bad ass Goof. You should pull a Salvador Dali and turn that painting into an actual sculpture of the object.

I've been wanting this piece for months which is probably why I let myself drop nearly 8 bills on this unframed litho.

Next piece I'm eying is this Camille Rose.
