I'm pretty sure that not only does the U.S. have anti missile capabilities in the area via our Navy but that Japan and China have some sort of defense too.

Kim Jong would prolly just have his red missile explode over the ocean somewhere, unless he fired it at a closer country say... eh, south korea? Than I'm not sure how much of a chance they'd have of intercepting that.

His artillery is about a million times more scare than his missiles.
Seoul is easily within reach of his artillery. No need for missiles there.

Add some biochemical shells, and poof!
Retaliation would be ultra-swift of course. So yeah, he ain't that crazy.

Anyway, what olyfeo said.

Honestly, what I'm more concerned about (if you can call it that) with the situation is what Prez Lee will do if the Norks try to press their luck with a little east sea artillery battle. This isn't Prez Dae Jung or Roh, Lee will be quick to fire some missles up their ass to make sure they realize he isn't one to be screwed with and that would ignite the area just as quickly.

His last test was all over the news, and his agressive stance towards south korea has been getting regular coverage as well.

Totally. It's all over the news, all over the internet (obviously), and all over newspapers.

Countries test missles and stuff all the time. In this situation, I'd like to think the international community of leaders know something we don't, which is why no one seems to ever trip. Who knows.

But I think on a global level, not just a "we're from the US and these crazies might nuke us" perspective, which is kinda self-obsessed, I think what's going on in Iran deserves the attention its been getting.

Report: NKorea plans to fire missile toward Hawaii
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090618/D98T1AR00.html

Quote:

, South Korea (AP) - North Korea may fire a long-range ballistic missile toward Hawaii in early July, a Japanese news report said Thursday, as Russia and China urged the regime to return to international disarmament talks on its rogue nuclear program.

The missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles (6,500 kilometers), would be launched from North Korea's Dongchang-ni site on the northwestern coast, said the Yomiuri daily, Japan's top-selling newspaper. It cited an analysis by the Japanese Defense Ministry and intelligence gathered by U.S. reconnaissance satellites.

The missile launch could come between July 4 and 8, the paper said.

Would China let anyone touch them? I don't think so.

Doesn't the whole world owe China money now?

Seems like N.K is pretty safe at tthe moment.

Good stuff to wake up to this morning:

North Korea has said it would consider interception of its ships a declaration of war, and on Wednesday accused the U.S. of seeking to start another Korean War.

"If the U.S. imperialists start another war, the army and people of Korea will ... wipe out the aggressors on the globe once and for all," a dispatch from the official Korean Central News Agency said.

Yeah, North Korea celebrates American holidays as their own anti-holidays. Restraining order anyone?
