North Korea...  Reply with quote

I'm surprised there is little coverage of this. I guess people are too busy with those big bad muslims and their election frauds.

For the past few weeks North Korea has been testing missiles, and actually making threats.

Are people just ignoring the senile leader or is north korea attention whoring trying to take the spotlight away from those rag tag terrorists in the middle east?

Why is this getting little to no coverage? Maybe itll be the flavor of next week. Who knows.

Kim Jong Il doesn't twitter so the news doesn't care about him... maybe if he had a facebook page the media would take him seriously.

It could also be because this is a VERY legitimate threat, so our government is keeping it hush hush while they amass some radical new strategy (most likely something stupid involving jets and missiles).

His last test was all over the news, and his agressive stance towards south korea has been getting regular coverage as well.

not where I've been watching. I only hear about this on the net.

For the last few weeks I've been watching a combo of CNN/MSNBC/Fox in the mornings, they talk all about the same stuff, except Fox focuses more on the Torture stuff going on.

I don't think I have heard them even talk about it, except for the Channel 5 news, they spoke about it briefly.

The levels of technological innovation of the glorious socialist workers paradise has been ahead of the imperialist fascist Americans and their puppet government in the South for years now!

It's all over my news on TV. There's a billion things going on right now, and the media trying to juggle it--it's pretty funny.

They're trying to show us Iran coverage, North Korea stuff, Health Care push by Obama, the gay rights benefits for federal workers, David Letterman vs. Sarah Palin

And it's killing them to not be able to focus on just one story and kill it.

I don't know how Obama gets any sleep these days. He seems like he's trying to balance a billion spinning plates all at once. Even if he's not doing great on each individual thing, it's remarkable to see a President on so many fronts.

What can you do with North Korea though? It's looking more and more like a military option is going to be forced. But why should the US be the only one fighting that battle?

Nobody wants the military option. It was never a serious option, not even for G W & co.

North Korea =/= Iraq.

The only possible way a war starts is if kim does something incredibly silly. And I'm not banking on that, because apart from being a megalomaniac asshole that wears platform shoes, he's pretty damn rational about his policies.

The south korean standing army is also three times as large as the active US army...

At this point, what would that be? Nuking Japan? What a silly goose!

He's silly alright.

But not crazy.

Why would he nuke Japan? It's the last thing he wants to do. It would mean the end of North Korea.

China also does not want it. Nor does Russia. Nor does the USA. Nor does Japan.

The first moment Kim shoots a missile for real, instead of for practice, everybody that has a stake in the region loses.

I'm pretty sure that not only does the U.S. have anti missile capabilities in the area via our Navy but that Japan and China have some sort of defense too.

Kim Jong would prolly just have his red missile explode over the ocean somewhere, unless he fired it at a closer country say... eh, south korea? Than I'm not sure how much of a chance they'd have of intercepting that.

As a sidenote: It's very hard for me to discuss Kim Jong Il without visions of his Team America puppet singing "I'm so ronery", even when he's threatening to drop a big one.
