i heard about that, seemed insane. sea land is a shed on two poles.

would that have been to store servers on? or were they figuring by being based in that country they'd be immune from copyright laws somehow, bet they'd have had a good party

It was a way to avoid copyright laws. Whether that meant being based there or actually moving servers, I don't know.

Geeks have been romanticizing about the legal possibilities of Sealand since before TPB was around. Methinks that either TPB never ever though of moving to Sealand and it was just an evolution of the old joke, or they were making a reference to said joke.

I heard shit about how Sealand has some sort of transatlantic trunk running by its base that they could just tap into. My guess would be that this is entirely untrue. If Sealand has connectivity it's probably nothing special and if they started trying to be an Internet anarchists' paradise then the rest of the world would simply blackhole them.

Think again my friend, you forgot to take into account all the smut you've downloaded in the last week alone. No one is above reproach and I mean no one. We all fucking download..something

Remember that funny youtube video you saw, the one with the yackity sax tune dubbed over it?

That would be an illegal download as well, strictly speaking.

Heh.

The war on torrents will get really stupid when joint RIAA/FCC covert operations in the jungles of Sweden come to light in the liberal press and we start getting commercials back home about deathly skinny, nerdy kids saying "This is your sense of entitlement...on downloads" and then they smash an MP3 player with a frying pan. Oh and PSAs about how downloads fund cyber-terrorism.

Such nonsense.

it certainly is when you put words in my mouth, yes. could have actually just read what i wrote, but you didn't.

Jesus fucking christ you are the most annoyingly antagonistic person on this board. I was making a joke in good nature. You didn't think it was funny, good for you. You should start a petition to take everything seriously so everyone can be as annoying as you.

I don't even know where to begin looking for whatever I said that's making you feel righteous this time in my JOKE POST. But whatever. Do your annoying embryo thing.

To make it super obvious, I was playing with the parallel you made to the war on drugs. Like, wouldn't it be funny if the wars on drugs and illegal downloading were similar in other ways, besides the one you mentioned? I GUESS THE ANSWER IS NO. IT ISN'T.

Haha, sorry dude. I thought you were making fun of me, which seemed like a cheap shot. Yes, now that I see that that's not the case, yours was quite an hilarious post.

Hahahh.

Unless you don't pronounce the 'h' in hilarious this is wrong. Just helping you out.

Grammar fight!

While archaic and unnecessary, the rule for "an before h" has less to do with whether the "h" is pronounced in the "h" word than whether the first syllable in the "h" word is stressed. So "an hilarious" is correct. The classic distinction is between "an history" (incorrect) and "an historian" (correct).

And, yeah it is. If you think about it, porn performers are literally risking their lives and are in a far more precarious position than, say, Lars Ulrich. And they are certainly hurt more by illegal downloading than musicians are, I think.

Hahah, thanks for the backup ic.

"an hilarious" is a coupling i use all the time just because it's so weird sounding. just with "hilarious" though. if i use it correctly any other time it's just me lucking out.

Meh, I'm not going to get into my porn use habits and which types of videos I choose to watch on a public forum, or even bother with how porn actors are paid (i.e. not in royalties), so we'll just say that you're right.
