I just finished my first batch of kombucha today! I took photos along the way, so enjoy:

First, you boil a gallon of water and then dump a cup of organic sugar in and let it dissolve. After that, you add 6-10 tea bags (I used 3 green and 3 white) and let it steep covered for 15 minutes. After steeping, you just keep it covered and let it come to room temp.

When its finally at room temp, you add the kombucha culture and the starter liquid, cover it with a densely woven cloth and let it ferment out of direct sunlight for 8-15 days depending on air temp.

The final pH should be around 3, but after 8 days you can test it by tasting it.

The final result!

Bottled and ready to drink

Happy Mother's Day! Its my baby!

Quit with all these new posts that aren't pictures! I keep getting falsely excited like the Rihanna thread.

A day in the life....  Reply with quote

Wake my ass up at about 9 am, late start today.

Pleasant surprise in the mail...more copies of a recently published article...

First big decision of the day, which hat defines me as a person?

Listening to the new Finale record and smoking my first cigarette.

Get to PDX's best coffee shop...

And finish a beat for my homie, Danté, Paradime, and One Be Lo.

Get on the MAX...

Get to work.

Partake of one of my many addictions.

Smoke another cigarette in my favorite spot on campus.

A student makes me cry.

Get on the bus to head home.

Meet my friend, who refuses to be photographed for said photojournal and take her awesome dog to the park.

She took a picture of me taking a nap, though.

Wake up. MOTHERFUCKING LOST. And TJ's crackers.

Drag my sleepy ass to the club. Ronin Roc on deck, warming it up.

I get on deck at midnight, drop Hypnotize, kids go ape.

Ronin and I have a moment when I drop Hip Hop by Dead Prez. He got his hands on the mic.

3 AM Taco Truck with some of the best homies.

Post carnitas taco cigarette, last of the day.

Get my ass in bed at about 4 AM. Goodnight, moon.

Sleeping in the top bunk makes me feel like the earf stashed me away on a high shelf. Or a like gerbil sleeping in an empty roll of toilet paper buried under wood shavings. Somewhere between those two.

I realized I had reached my decrepit manhood when I tried to sleep in a bunkbed once and, first of all -had trouble fitting in the foot and a half of space between the mattress and ceiling and more importantly -began to feel that I was trapped in a fucking plaster spackled cairn.

You are some kind of a baller-ass philosopher DJ to withstand that and will probably be eternally youthful. Why are you sleeping up there?
