1997 AOI demo version of "Masturbate Your Brain"  Reply with quote

CLIP OF THE WEEK on www.SFRstore.com

I'm currently going through my 4-track tape recordings from 1997 and
dumping them onto the computer. Here's an AOI demo called "Masturbate Your Brain" which was recorded before the band had a drummer.

EXCLUSIVE EXCLUSIVE. NEW SHIT (old shit)

http://www.strangefamousrecords.com
and scroll down, its on the right side of the page.

There will probably be a flood of similar stuff posted as Clips of the Week if people show an interest in it. But if it's junk then it's junk and we'll keep it all in the dusty drawer.

Ahhhh YOUTH. The youth of yesterday, what else can I say?

Thicker accents, overwrought concepts and idealism up the hoohaa.

It's been a trip going through all this old shit.

And rememba ladies and gentlemen...rememba to mastabate yaw brain. And stimulate yaw mind. It's impawtant.

Off-topic but when I clicked on this thread your rapping part on Dirtbike 3 came up, which for some reason I hadn't heard yet(I guess I hadn't listened to dirtbike 3 all the way through(or even halfway through yet)). Anywhat. I liked it lots. The coin/money dead thing was magnifique.

More old new stuff is fun.

I'm definitely interested in hearing this type of stuff.
Definitely a "lighter" vibe and a lot rougher than the version I know.
I loved this song back in the day, thanks for bringing it back from the depths.

Ah, this is the Sage that I first heard. Wow. The sound and style of your raps take me back about 10 years.

I dig the thick accent and style. Thanks for sharing.

I just went through all my 4 track tapes and transferred the ones I like onto my computer. However, there is one song in particular I was looking for and it's the ONLY one I can't find. Really fucking annoying. ha.

Whatever the case, we have a bunch of unheard tracks we can put up every week at SFR for a couple months. That'll be fun.

As for that old style, it's like a whole other person. I don't think I could re-create any of it in that manner. No way. And that person back then couldn't do what I do now. I think this is a good example of why people should release material (or create it and share it) when they have something. I know way too many people who keep holding off because they're perfectionists. And then 5 years go by and anything you could have possibly done 5 years ago is lost. You've lost that ability to mark a certain period. I mean, you don't really need to release it or share it...but at least create it. Then down the line you can return to it and have a good giggle or maybe even go "Huh...not bad."

Dope.

I vote for more non-nonsensical sounds in hip hop like this song....

AhhhhhhhhHHHHHhhhh AH A AhhhhAhhh

WoooooooSSSSHHHHHH....

that's right non-nonsensical.

Hey sage

I remember like 4 or 5 years ago there was an AOI soundclick page with pretty good quality live recordings... There was this really nice version of Narcissist with a flute... It was dope. I would absolutely love to hear that again... and the song thats all "Sage kills word up respect this" or something... I used to have the whole set on this purple CD-R but it got damaged real bad and i had to throw it away

Also... I drew skulls on it

completely agree. it's pretty easy to forget the person you used to be when there is nothing there to remind you of that past. and not keeping in mind where you come from doesn't usually bode well for where you're going.

I was hoping to eventually do something with the AOI music that was used for Narcissist. The reason being, Narcissist already existed in various forms and I wanted to do something fresh with it. However I'm not even sure I'd be able to track down that song or the instrumental anymore. It's going to take a bit of digging.

I'm happy that you guys are feeling the crumby sounding demos. That's what I likes.
