aight, much respect for his music.

but i saw this article in a magazine that said he and few other rappers performed at a political rally for anti-war, and i thought that was cool of him. but then i turn on my tv, and i see him in a coca-cola commercial, a company that gives 1.4 million dollars every year to the republican party.

any perspectives?

No one cares anymore, there are much larger problems than common in a soda commercial.

How is that positive...I think the hypocracy far outweighs outweighs any "positivity" that comes from doing a Coke commercial.

Frankly, I find the RJD2 Saturn commercial more irritating, because he's selling his music rather than his persona.

Coke most likely gives money to the dems as well (not that they are much better :/ ), when you are a megacorp you gotta pay your protection money.

it's ok because common drinks coke  Reply with quote

yeah martin sheen spoke at the SF rally. he's been a long time activiist and lately i've been kinda weirded out by those Visa commercials he does wiith his son. i don't know what to make of such blatant hypocracy so I'm going to pretend that it didn't happen.

id like to think that if ever was asked, i would have no problem turning down that kind of stuff. am i totally unaware of some incentive that makes doing commercials absolutely irresistible? Don't say "money" or "putting food on the table" either. does common really need his income to be 2 million a year instead of 1.5 million?

I liked what Mr.HourGlass said in the other forum that someone linked here. If we were in Common's situation how many of us would actually turn that offer down.

and a question for Sage, since your the only person on this board that could be offered to do commercials (as far as I know), what kind of things are you willing to do. Like if they had asked you to wear a nike hat during the X-Games thing you did, would you have turned the whole thing down.

How could the RJD2 commercial be worse ? that makes no fucking sense.......

For instance, if Saturn donated money to a Pro-Choice org, and RJD2 was radically opposed to abortion, and he STILL did the commercial, it might be worse, but in that instance his name, nothing about him is other than the background music is associated w/ him.....who would have known that was RJD2 if somebody didnt tell you ?

its a matter of principal, Common has said one thing and done another, I dont see how RJD2 fits into that....
