ENSNARE MAMA SUGAR  Reply with quote

So I've been in Boston for a few days, attending USENIX 2008, which has had me bored in my hotel room for very short stretches followed by longer stretches of reading technical papers, attending talks, and generally thinking way too hard about how advances in academic/research computing apply to my nine to five job.

A friend of mine recently used his LiveJournal to point out some foolish behavior by a commenter in a conservative blog, and as an aside mentioned that he had run an anagram search on the commenter's name.

During one of these short stretches of boredom, I searched for and found an anagram search widget and ran the names of the forum's 50 most prolific posters through the grinder, excluding members (2b, vince.) with less than eight letters in their name, as well as posters (Mikal kHill, mizterie) for whose names there were no anagrams at all. In picking a "winner" for my list below, I chose, by preference, phrases that made sense or made me laugh, and avoided ones where the anagrams included direct subsets of the original name (e.g., many anagrams for Blackstone Valley included the words 'black', 'stone', or 'valley'). No specific rules, otherwise.

Sage Francis - GAINS FARCES
futuristxen - NUT FIXTURES
mortalthoughts - TOTAL MRS THOUGH
MessiahCarey - MAY SEE CHAIRS
Stumbleweed - WE MUST BLEED
mancabbage - BEANBAG CAM
Doctrine - TO CINDER
R. Kamidees - I SEEM DARK
tom inhaler - METAL RHINO
shambhala - A HASH BALM
jakethesnake - HANK SEEK A JET
breakreep - BARKEEPER
MAGIstraight - A GRATIS MIGHT
PHIL LACIO AKA P DAWG - APPALACHIA GLOW KID (my favorite)
Blackstone Valley - LOVES LACY BLANKET
MYOWNCLICHE - CHIMNEY COWL
phataccino - PAINT COACH
duke_city - I YET DUCK
SneepSnopDotCom - POSED COMPONENTS

My favorite for my own name, following the rules I used for the list above, is 'MAINTAINER MONKS'. 'MARKET IN ONANISM' is also pretty funny, but re-uses a word from my actual username.

My favorite anagram of 'Strange Famous Forum' is 'FAMOUS FOR ARGUMENTS', which breaks my rule, and also makes me happy that this place is no longer called the Non-Prophets Forum.

Anyway, time for dinner. :-)

The anagram of my real name I like best is Enter Wild Daze. Nice.

If you spell my name the proper way, the best I could come up with was Pact Vitae. This officially makes my name lame.

Sadly, I'm top 300. With as few posts as I have, it puts in perspective how small the active portion of this community actually is. Especially given how many people in the top 50 quit or got banned.

Strange Famous album anagrams:
Personal Journals: ALL SOJOURNERS NAP
A Healthy Distrust: AS THAT HURT YIELDS
Human The Death Dance: THE HAUNTED MAN ACHED

Situation: TO TUNISIA
Run on Anything: THIN ANGRY NOUN
The Failure: I THE EARFUL
The Ugly Truth: HUG THY TURTLE

Still Sick - Urine Trouble: COUNTRIES BUILT KILLERS
Sick of Waiting Tables: IT IS BACKSEAT FLOWING
The Known Unsoldier - Sick of Waging War: KING WAS SHOWN WORKING ELECTION FRAUD
Road Tested: DEAD OTTERS
Still Sickly Business: SUBTLY SICK SILLINESS

Good find Mark.

My full name:
BETTER BUDGE DRINKER
DIRGE BE BETTER DRUNK
DREDGE RUBBER KITTEN
DRUG BEER BETTER KIND
BERET BUDGET DRINKER
GET INTERBRED BURKED

I'd prefer that everyone on the board refer to me as Beret Budget Drinker from now on.

I think this website is where Aesop Rock gets most of his short phrases.

My full name translated in a bittersweet way... Sounded like something Buck 65 would write about.
