King Vision (Grand Buffet)  Reply with quote

Unless I missed it, which is very possible, I never saw a discussion on King Vision the new Grand Buffet album. At first I didn't like it because it seemed more like a bad electronic album than a hip-hop album. After repeated listens I've got to say it's a great album. There are some great tracks, Born in the USA, Cream Cheese Money, Dark Autumn, and Seek To Know to name a few. A few tracks still haven't totally grabbed me, but the potential is there for them to grow on me and those will probably end up being my favorites later. Anyone else got any thoughts on this album?

In related news I saw Grand Buffet in Omaha, NE last night and they brought down the house. Hadn't seen them since 2002 when they came around with Sage, but the energy is still there and these guys put 100% + into delivering a great show. It's still early in the tour so if you get a chance to go, don't miss this one. Remaining dates copied and pasted from grandbuffet.com:

www.sfrstore.com did a $10 pre-sale for that album and it came with extra stuff. I believe we still have the same deal going on.

Grand Buffet are the homies for life. Consistently the best live show, time and time again.

I was talking to Jackson after the show and mentioned that it had been since 2002 when I saw them when you brought them through Lawrence, KS. They mentioned that they would be seeing you here soon and that they were doing those shows with bernard.

Sage, I know you're selling this album and can't be too critical of it, but I'm curious as to what you thought of King Vision and the new direction that Grand Buffet is going in with this album.

I agree that it was less hiphop and more electro, but I'm a big fan of theirs so I figured people would know that I liked it but I guess I should explicitly state that I do. I think Grand Buffet is special in a few ways.

i'd have to say that grand buffet is one of those groups that i will never get tired of seeing live. they are some of the most entertaining fellows i've ever seen and they are doing something abit different from the rest of the rap community.

I always have a great time at their shows. Last time they came through Jackson had this genius rant about how he was gonna dig up Reagan and make him some sort of zombie hybrid powered by a car battery and roast beef. Or something like that. Me, my roommate and Grunge wandered the UCSD campus afterwards looking for a bar that ending up being closed. Fun times.

I ordered King Vision along w/ The Failure pre-order. Looking forward to hearing some new stuff. Cream Cheese Money is the fucking jam.
