I agree that was inspiring, these dudes I know from here in KC called TJ Dovebelly, have a guy in their group who scratches with 8 track tapes, he calls himself a TJ , anyway.....

Wow, that is pretty cool. It's been a while since I've seen some new, innovative hip-hop routines.
Does anyone know how he's doing it though? |

I don't wish to sound like a miserable bastard but to me, once you get over the fact that he is using a tapedeck like a turntable, you realise that (a) its an extremely bland set with some of the lamest bodyticks since DJ David and (b) the guy's scratching doesn't sound much better than Chad Jackson with an American football. |

Yeah, but point a and b get muted because he IS using tapedecks. I mean, dude doesn't have to sound like Q Bert in order for it to be cool. |

In my infancy I tried for so long to scratch on my walkman (because I was too cheap to save up for turntables). After breaking the thing apart a wee bit I actually got to a not so terrible facsimile of scratchyscratchy. ...But I unfortunately had very little idea of how big a role the faders play in scratchin' and also I have the finger rythm of an epilectic on qualudes. |

For real, I could never get my old cassettes wound back up after they fell apart, much less trying to re-cue the shit during a live DJ set. |

That's incredible. I'm not really sure how he's doing it, but even despite the hokie moves I'm astonished! |
