Short but quick right now.
B Dolan ripped his set. I went out there and did a couple songs with him. This crowd is all love. Feeling really good about it. More info soon!

so good to hear! wish my goddamn phone was working so i could get the ol text updates. tell bernard i'm proud of him (no dad-o) and i can't wait to hear all about itttttttttt. tell prolyphic to kick some fucking ass tonight. tell yourself to not laugh out loud every time you hear or think the words "yak ballz". seriously, who calls themselves yak ballz? oh, and tell bastid that if he wins a juno, i want to meet ellen page. i know the two aren't related, but he will be mini-famous in canada and i want to exploit that to the fullest. |

It was me vs the "ringer" from Guerilla Union (the promotion company that throws Rock the Bells and Paid Dues shows.)
My money guarantee for the show was on the line. So it was basically a double or nothing.
We started the head-to-head game 45 minutes before my set. The game only took a half hour. A crowd of performers, press people and hangers on crowded around the table.
I was down in chips for a short time but worked my way back into the lead. I was told that Rich, the guy I was playing, was impossible to read. I discovered otherwise. But also, I felt like I was giving tells left and right due to my nerves.
The last hand of the game started with him raising my blind pre-flop. I was the chip leader and from what I could tell he wouldn't want to follow an all in with an iffy hand.
I went all in with a King/9 offsuit.
He called me with a King/8 offsuit.
I'm feeling pretty good. Flop comes out and misses us both. Feeling pretty good. Then the dealer puts an 8 on the table. Amazing.
Last card was not a 9.
But it was a heart.
And it completed my flush.
I win.
Shake hands. People clap. I walk about 15 feet to the backstage area and grab the mic.
I was frazzled a bit during the show. Spaced out on a few lyrics. It was strange peforming with a DJ again, but Skratch Bastid held it the fuck down. Doing the Mullet poem with him dropping in all the samples on time was the definite highlight.
A long day. A tough day. A good one. I'm about to board the plane with Prolyphic.
The Cali crowd is always incredible so if you are reading this and you made it out to the show then thank you very much. |

yeah, video from this would be great. i'd love to see mullet with the samples.
Even better would have been if someone was filming sage from the moment the the River card dropped through to grabbing the mic. I'd make some good video footage. Especially, since it was unscripted.
Sounds like it was a great show. |
