Ms Icarus was like "we're going to the Sage/Against Me show in Detroit on the 20th, right?" and I was like, "nah that's a Buck 65/Bernard show." Guess it's both. Sage in Pontiac, Buck and Dolan at the Magic Stick.

Who's going to either? Which one?

We haven't decided which we're going to. We won't likely go to both.

Sage recommended to go to Buck/Bernie cuz the Against Me! set is just him, a CD player and 45 minutes of standard routine.. so that's what i think i'll be doing.

buck has put together a very tight set with skratch bastid. seriously. bastid gets his moment to shine, but it never gets too showy. he has a very solid, important role in the show, not just the flashy dj. buck is as amazing and interesting to watch as ever.

and bernard.. well jeez. i've seen a lot of spoken word features over the past few years, but i really don't think i've seen anything like bernard dolan. i know i'm biased, but it's an almost perfect mix of quality writing and theatrical performance... one is never sacrificed for the other.

i'm not telling you to skip out on seeing sage.. but you will definitely not be disappointed by bernard and buck. i think you might even be blown away.

the magic stick is much more fun to be at than clutch cargos. I wonder if buck will be bowling before the show again.

As much as I love Buck, that Sage/Against Me! line up is too hard to turn down.

I dunno... I may try to go to Cleveland and haul ass to Detroit the next day.

Can I just be the jerk here for a minute and point out that in addition to all of the other compelling reasons to go for the B&B bill, that show also has the distinct advantage of not featuring fuckin' Against Me!?

EDIT: actually I have no idea what I'm talking about, I should be less of a dick. Aren't they not really an interesting band at all though? Am I thinking of someone else?

against me is a good band. I haven't seen them live, but I have heard great things.

(but still go see b&b)

Maybe you can do both?? Heres how...  Reply with quote

For those conflicted.

You could go to the Buck 65/Benard show in detroit and than on a TOTALLY DIFFERENT DAY catch Sage in grand rapids Nov 27 (this date was recently added).

Still keeping in mind

Would some detroiters want to drive that far..to see Sage do a 45 minute set w/ dj no spin zone?? SOME MIGHT.

Just letting people know of the other "possible" option. Even if it may be a little out there :)

Im just going to clone myself and be at both.

I haven't heard Against Me lately (ok, in probably 5 years) but I really like what I have of their music. And I really love Sage and missed the last Detroit show because we couldn't find a babysitter. And no way will we be able to find babysitters to go to two shows in a week, especially one 2 hours away.
UNLESS-- is the Grand Rapids show all ages?
