Saw Buck last night in Montreal  Reply with quote

I'm here at Pop Montreal, I played with More or Les and Abdominal on Thursday and I'm sticking around in town with my green bracelet (it's kind of like being a green beret) to catch other hype shows and last night I hit up the spot and saw Buck 65 with Bastid and Cadence Weapon with DJ Weezl.

I just want to let people who haven't seen him in a minute know the Buck 65 live show is through the roof now. I've never seen him so kinetic and on point. I guess last time I saw him play was in December, and even that was a step up from where I'd previously seen him at, but this made that look sleepy.

The Centaur dance almost makes up for the censored lyrics. Almost!

So if it's been a minute for you (I assume this was more or less his steez on the HTDD tour?) and you just remember a guy who looked almost like he wanted to apologize for being on stage even though his rhymes were fly... there's a whole new thing going on and it's electric.

(Kennedy Killed The Hat still sucked though)

I always enjoyed Buck's live show although it does seem he looks more confident up there now more than ever...but his intimate setup of a pair of turntables, a mic, his magic dust and himself was always entertaining...and the stories he would interject in between tracks are really funny

That was our best show that we've played together yet.

For those that don't know, I'll be on the Buck tour in the states this November, too.

Good to see you Jesse!

anyone else there?

Yeah, that was one hell of a show.

Only thing that annoyed me was that almost no one was fucking dancing. Plateau kids are too cool to dance these days. But who cares. I had a fucking blast.

Buck and Bastid together make for a sick set. You guys sounded amazing.

You got a AKA in your user name and the main one is a joke about sucking cock. I'm sorry to lose your vote, captain stylish.

Firefly> Were you wearing a Sage Francis shirt? I think we were heading in at the same time and I saw you and turned around to get my stamp and looked back and you were gone!

BKGSP> The magic dust would be around 2003, right? That's after he moved away, I wasn't seeing his show very often then. I'm sure he had some good ones... I mean I idolized him back when he was still doing the ones I describe as apologetic, around the turn of the century. I'm just saying the new set is on some other shit.

And it has a lot to do with Bastid's presence, I think. Wild cutting is an invigorating force. I also credit Paul with bringing the RAPPING BACK.

Yup, that was me. It's too bad I didn't see you cause I ended up going solo. It would have been cool to see you again.
