rtb review calls sage a drunkard  Reply with quote

http://media.www.thedailyaztec.com/media/storage/paper741/news/2007/08/20/City/Bookstore.Offers.Textbook.Rental-2932166.shtml

"If it weren't for the Paid Dues stage and being able to see things such as Sage Francis absolutely sloshed and dancing by himself during the Legends' set, the sodomy that is Coors' price levels for refreshments mixed with the drawbacks of the main stage, Rock the Bells would have been hardly worth the gas money out to Chula Vista. Then again, this show was more of an auxiliary date, and I don't consider it representative of the main San Francisco, San Bernardino and New York shows."

If you check out the link, you'll notice the article title and picture seem to deal with textbook rental. But that means you're not familiar with the world class journalism of the Daily Aztec, a paper so shitty they let me write articles for it.

I find it amusing that reviewers occasionally think Sage is drunk or on drugs at shows based on his dancing/sense of humor/etc. I'd take it as a complement if nothing else.

edit: they fixed the link (those bastards), so enjoy an article on textbooks

Now I'm really mad I didn't go. My patna bailed on me at the last second. Didn't find the idea of a 10 hour concert in the heat by myself all too appealing. If I had a dime for every time somebody bailed on me for a hip hop show...

Mainly because the length of the show. I used to go to hip hop shows by myself back in high school on a fairly regular basis. Most of my friends aren't huge fans of the underground.

If this was a regular tour show, I would've have rolled solo. But I just didn't like the idea of 10 hours in the Chula Vista heat by myself. Excuses... excuses... excuses... At least I've seen nearly every artist on the bill multiple times. But yeah, I'm still kinda pissed at myself for not going.

I can understand that at least. But on the Death Dance Tour I wanted to rip my dick off when I saw people on this forum talking about not going to shows because friends bailed on them. Lamest shit in the world. Lots of points were lost.

Don't get me started on things that make me want to rip my dick off...

My basic rule now is if it's a non-festival show within 30-45 minutes driving, I'm there, friends or not.

Same here. I've found that if it's a show that I really want to see, I prefer to go solo. I'd rather really enjoy a show by myself than get caught up with some drama or a friend having a bad time and have it mess up my experience.

My brother was texting his fuck-buddy through the entire Seattle show. It was pissing me off that he didn't wanna be right up in front of the stage.

I roll solo most times though.
