I killed a guy named Dolan once, thought he was untouchable.
Buried him alive in the desert.

Yeah, Stephen King is a brilliant author. His character development is legendary.

Saying Stephen King is brilliant is a slap in the face to good prose.

The dude writes books for middle-aged soccermoms to buy at grocery stores, so they can curl up on the couch and get a good scare while drinking wine and eating cheese and crackers.

John Grisham and Michael Crichton should collaborate with him. Maybe give his overly prolific ass a sense of plot, and story structure.

If John Grisham and Michael Crichton get props in this thread, I swear I will chop my pinky fingers off.

While that sounds tempting, comparing those two uberdouches to King is absurd. I work in a bookstore. King is never purchased alongside those authors.

I was joking. He's clearly not as bad as John Grisham. But also, Lil Mama isn't as bad a Lil Kim.

I've read IT, The Stand, On Writing (favorite), and The Gunslinger.

I didn't dive any deeper into the Dark Tower series, but I have heard that he has no clue where it's going, and has winged, and will continue to wing, every single selection in the series. That's my biggest problem with him. Terrible editing, agonizing plots, and very unsatisfactory endings.

However, I will give him kudos on his character development.

Is Dolores Claiborne by him too? Or is that by Clive Barker or one of those other twits?

I don't think he knew that he was going to end it the way it ends until the end... but it stands as the best peice of fiction (all 7 volumes counting as one piece) in my life.

The stand was good. I haven't read It. It's one I still need to dig up.

i think that king's writing is not nearly as interesting as the stories he comes up with. but judging him by his audience (soccer moms), thats just stupid. rappers should know this.

My mom used to read me It as a bedtime story, and my brother was named Stephen after King.
I will sucker punch you in the throat for insisting my mother is some sort of filthy soccer mom. Close fisted even.
