also,

can someone please clue me in to what the fuck "meh" means?

it's getting annoying.

say it out loud and shrug your shoulders.

for fuck's sake. that makes no sense. i'm not saying you're wrong, i'm saying it makes no sense. why is that sound/motion used to conclude so many of the posts in this thread? is it a "i'm not trying to offend, i'm just unimpressed and indifferent"? is it the new "whatever"?

meh

1. (slang) I don’t know (the verbal equivalent of a shrug of the shoulders).
2. (slang) I don’t care.

“What do you want for dinner?” — “Meh. I’m not really hungry.”

3. (slang) I don’t particularly like or dislike this, I'm indifferent.

“That film was awesome!” — “Meh. I’ve seen better.”

4. (slang) I’m not interested, I'm not enthusiastic.
* 1995 March 19, “Lisa's Wedding”, The Simpsons

Marge: [weaves on a loom] HI BART, I'M WEAVING A LOOM
Bart: Meh.

5. (slang) A vocabularised sigh

sage, i think slug's point is being lost, and i think this dialogue can be salvaged if his point gets a little bit of life and love. from what i can tell his concern is not about what you said or what you think but rather the way in which you responded to him saying what he thinks. you seemed offended by him dropping his cents even though his cents really had nothing to do with you as a person, only about the reviewer and his sitch. getting negative feedback can be love and both the reviewer (whose words are not entirely without value worth recognizing) and slug are exercising that in this situation. making sean, or others, feel like if they speak freely they will be accused of acting out of line rather than heard for whatever their opinion is worth, might be an effect to be concerned about, even if it was not the intended result of your response. cuz every effect, intended or not, becomes a cause.

or maybe sean is just another karma cop/victim complex, who for some reason wants to add his two cents only in discussions where he can somehow discredit sage. see the prince thread for further evidence.
embryo, thank you for wording what i could not.

The criticism for this review was all over the place. Everyone who attacked it fired at anything and everything.

Slug came in and, at the very least, clarified things and tried to focus all the disparaging remarks. To criticize a dude for trying to focus blind hate/criticism is a little inane.

It’s not even that he brought balance to the discussion; fact is, at the end of the day everyone agrees it was a pretty poor review. While he didn’t sing the same tune as everyone else, he’s still on the same team…

I thought the whole point of reviews, both good and bad, was to raise awareness of music through discussion. Mission accomplished.

I think too many people are speaking out of place. Not just me and Slug.

So what am I supposed to do? Let a huge publication like Spin magazine talk shit about me and my album and not address it? Not let my fans address it? Hypothetical question.
