I'm with Sarah on this one. This is the tip of a very large iceberg.

Well I mean...he references Gnarls Barkley, and Cee-lo is not white last I knew. Just sounds like another dumb kid trying to negotiate race and rap music.

It's not like Epitaph isn't marketing to these type of kids. With "genre defying" as their tag line. I think the implication one would draw from their marketing is exactly what this kid is getting out of the music.

I guarantee there's a huge portion of the fanbase that likes Sage because he's not say....Lil Wayne.

To isolate this guy's opinions out and put them in a KKK context, is marginalizing a viewpoint that from my perspective is anything but on the margins.

I'm with your main point -- the last line is firetruth -- but I'm wary of conflating not liking Lil Wayne (or a preference for more 'socially conscious' music) with the sort of "I have more in common with white rappers" white pride that's going on in this review.

I don't either. That's why, when I do, it's deliciously ironic.

"What does he like to read?"
"You know, hipster stuff."
"Like what?"
"Ginsberg, Bukowski, Kesey, Kerouac..."
"Oh, of course--"
"... Faust, the Bible, Dickens, Ama Ata Aidoo, Virginia Woolf, Beowulf, Tom Wolfe, Gene Wolfe..."

I hereby demand backup dancers doing synchronised routines in the next clip. Wearing uzi's and matching trainers.

This is dope because it's going to draw out all the kids who feel JUST LIKE THIS GUY on the forum here.

That needs to be addressed.

The guy could have said everything he said without even bringing race into the discussion.

It was Magic Johnson. Pino actually says "Fuck Michael Jordan" in the script. Still, good point.

Look at some of the posted comments for his review and the tattoo. The comments aren't extremely offensive but it's a bad vibe. The tattoo is offensive.

That kid is an idiot. If you get too worried about the dummies who listen to your music at a certain point, you turn into a walking stereotype *cough Esoteric*. It's another chit in your album sales. Slap a knowmore sticker on his face if you ever see him at a show...

I don't think anyone here legitimately thinks that what he's saying in this review is intelligent. Or are there? Any takers??

This kid obviously wasn't at the NYC show last week.

EDIT: ps, is "HTTD" his mistake or Tom's?

You can pick your nose but you can't pick your audience. Though, with a devoted fan base you may be able to pick your audience's nose.
