Eminem walked 8 Miles thru 3 ft of snow, UPHILL, both ways  Reply with quote

What Eminem has done is he has made hiphop palatable to the same white America he has disturbed for the past 3 years.

Instead of a bratty, angsty Eminem...we are getting a more sensitive and "cute" Eminem on the cover of every magazine that clogs the racks in our Super Market aisles.

Grandma wants to see what the fuss is all about. So does mommy. So does little Johnny. So does Uncle Chuck. So does Buffy.

Karaoke Bars quickly turn into faux battles. haha.

Think I'm kidding? Who watched SNL last night?

fuck all this shit. It's a Hollywood story. It's Hollywood rap. It's Hollywood mentality. It's Hollywood personalities. It's Hollywood hiphop.

Burn.

Do you blame Eminem for this? Or anyone in particular? Commercialism? A combination?

Blame comercialism???? What? Of course its eminem's fault, no one forced him to be a puppet.

I always thought of him as a waste of talent. I think the main reason he is so popular is because of his gimmicks. The guy must pay his pr people a lot of money, cause their doing a good job.

Who says he's doing it? How is he allowing himself to be a puppet?

Not only that, but it was more REAL than it was funny. Like...it was RAP RAP. And very close to real battles.

It was LESS mocking. Inspired by 8 Mile. They sacrificed the jokes for some "well written" raps.

Haha...I'm sorry to be taking such a light-hearted event from this angle. I just anticipate it will be disected sooner or later. It left a bad taste in my mouth. It was more telling than it was funny.

Haha, you cats make me laugh. How exactly is he a puppet? Maybe he's making the music he wants t make?

And if he's a waste of talent what music should he be making? If he spits drugs and violence, it's a gimmick. If he spits about his life, you say he's monotonous.

If he were to drop bling bling, you'd hate. If he kicked just punchlines and battle shit, he'd be one dimensional. If he talked drug dealing and thug shit, he'd be fake. If he kicked knowledge, he'd be pretentious. So what can he kick to satisfy you.

Whatever he does, he'll get hated on.

Eminem bashers kill me. Mad funny. I ain't heard none of this back in 96-97. It was all "He's nice". Now dude blew up and it's all "He's wasting his talent. I never liked him".

Mad corny. Let's blame everything concerning rap, society and everything else on Em.

My throat's dry. Somebody pass the haterade, please

"haterade"

oh jeez. I don't think you're post was directed at me, but I'll field it anyway.

Can you honestly say that he keeps his subject matter fresh? You haven't noticed a reoccuring theme in almost every single on of his songs?

I'm not going to say that homeboy is a waste of talent. He made use of his talent. I don't think he could write better songs than he has already.

Is he to blame for what's happening right now? No...that blame is dispersed far and wide, reaching as far out as this messageboard of people who act as his spine.

"Who says he's doing it? How is he allowing himself to be a puppet?"

By sacrificing artistic integrity for cream. He makes enough changes in his albums so he will make more dough. For instance, do you think he actually likes Elton Johns music? He did that shit for his image. Plus, he's obviously getting advised on his publicity stunts and other gimmicks cause he's not nearly smart enough to make all that money on his own.

His main gimmick is starting contraversy. Ticking people off gets people talking about him an awful lot.

Shylax - Please don't put me into a catogory (Enimem Basher) Its not as if i make a living doing it, or even spend a considerable amount of my time on dissing him.

Plus, if he was solely making the music he wants to make then he wouldn't of made a whole song complaing about it. The reason I say he's a waste of talent is cause he makes songs where he sounds cocky and annoying. It makes it hard to enjoy a song when you get sick of it after a couple of listenings, and him being full of himself doesn't make it any easier.

"Mad corny. Let's blame everything concerning rap, society and everything else on Em"

Where did that come from? Ha ha ha What's up with that?

How did he change his style, esse?

He's been doing the same shit he always did. If anything, he's gotten MORE mature of late. Have you heard the shit on Rawkus? He didn't change his style to become popular...only thing that changed was exposure.

It wasn't directed at you but

The way cats hate, do you honestly think anyone would give him a fair listen if he did kick something new? Someone wrote they like "Lose Yourself" and the responses on here were like

"Garbage. It's horrible"

"Did you listen to it"

"No. It's Eminem. I know what he's going to talk about, etc, etc, etc"

Look in the archives, LOL, you'll see it.

II'm by no means his "spine" but I keep an open mind and ear. Did he make multiple songs about his mom and pop groups? Yeah. And perhaps you're right about that. But he's not the only one. Jay, Nas, and everyone else at that upper level is pretty repetitive. Would I like more rounded lyricists? Of course, but if they get hated on for any attempt that deviates from their norm than what's the incentive for them?

I see you though Sage. But do you see me?

Firefly,

Where did he sacrifice artistic integrity? He started out spitting drugged, humorous, horrorcore shit then started making songs about his past and his present.

Would he have kept his integrity if he continued to talk about popping pills and keeping it comedy club?
