Yo, I don't think he's sayin they don't know NOW. I think he meant back in the day everything wasn't so clear and the phrase just stuck around. |

Right. I don't mean that there is a lack of understanding today. I was trying to say that some language patterns used today were established hundreds of years ago when formal education was rare or not possible for black people in America. I recognize and understand that peolpe of all races come up with slang words to replace "proper" words. That was just one example of how some of the language came about. Peace and repect. |
