No I dont'.

Because you've made a hundred fucking posts saying I'm ignorant, but not saying what you're basing it on, or why you're saying it.

Oh, I guess I'm just ignorant cause you say so.

I asked you the first time you said it to please tell me why you said that, because I seriously wanted to know what I was missing.

And you responded by repeating yourself.

And you repeated yoursefl again and again.

And never actually said anything.

Hey fucktard, I called him a fucking idiot because of his fucking editorials, THREE of which I posted. I also explained why I thought that they were idiotic. What the hell are you talking about? I've backed up every argument I've made.

And I judged his book based on how HE described it!

Before you say anything else, understand that I actually DO agree (partially) with this article.

I still maintain that the guy who wrote it is a blubbering idiot who wrote a book where he lampoons black culture.

However, he does have a point.

A more interesting point is that he's bashing young people like most of us, unaware, perhaps, that I'd say a good number of adults are similarly overconfident and uneducated.
For instance, Bill O'Reilly, who I"m quite confident Goldblatt would be a fan of. Bill O'Reilly calls Islam "the language of our enemies," among other things, and his confidence and lack of education is quite ridiculous.

Maybe I'm reading to much into this, but I think he's unfairly targeting young people. There has always been a vein of anti-intellectualism in this country. "Don't talk so smart" kind of thing.
And frankly, I think the stupidty of our president proved my point...its not high shool grads who are stupid. Its everyone.

Largely, O'Reilly fuels the anti-intellectualism by casting any other news broadcast as "that same ol' blah blah boring stuff." Often that "blah blah" stuff includes prior information on a story, which puts the issue into context. Bill O'Reilly hates context.

Jamoke.

What the fuck is wrong with you? If you disagree with me, if you think I'm "ignorant," fucking tell me why and stop being a bitch.

Now you understand my frustration.

Um, no, my actual arguments pointed out that the man criticizes black culture from his ivory tower....I've got to go to class, I'll elaborate more later.

I recommend you read the other thread.

thats a very good point. sure things might have been harder for you then someone more privileged but in the end its all on you.

you identified the problem. the next step is fixing it.

i always thought it would be fun to get my hands on a list of college books studied in certain courses and pick the ones i thought were interesting and read them on my own.

so, anyone have any non-fiction books to recommend???

DJdee, unfortunately, on a whole the article is true. I mean it might not be true for individuals. i mean, there are exceptions to the rule. On the other hand he neglected the fact that adults are stupid too. And just to make a point usually stupid kids grow up to be blithering adults.

Once again there are exceptions. I dont know about this guy, and he probably is a jackass, but a correct jackass.

Like I said, he is correct, but marginally so, on this issue....he ignores the idea of AMERICAN non-intellectualism (that he probably voted for) and puts it on "the young people." I did not disagree with his assumptions about young people however; I'd say in general he's right.

And man, if you don't see how right-wing this guy is, you're nuts....in one of the editorials I posted, he calls the NAACP's annual meetings "a circus." He says that the music of PE and Brand Nubian promotes an Us vs. Them mentality. And he talks about how terrible this is.

I can't wait for hip hop to be completely Kenny G-itized.
