why would you want to dress like what youre into? especially if the pop culture is telling you thats how youre supposed to dress. i have a very eclectic taste in music, so am i supposed to have a little bit of everything in my wardrobe everyday?

thats why I am going to rock a mowhawk.

i'm curious. if i am to be fashionable by hip hop standards because it's an important aspect of hip hop culture, then what guidlines should i follow? should i ascribe to the typical hip hop video and don the tight low cut jeans with a bikini top like a hip hop groupie? or if i consider myself more hardcore, then should i adapt the lesbian look, dressing myself as a man?

i just really want to get it right.

You don't have to dress like a slut or a man to dress hip hop...there is no concrete definition of what you have to wear (thank god)....

geez are you all this annoying in real life! every things a fucking nerd debate here. HIPHOP IS ABOUT STYLE. it has always been about style and it was born out of style. i dont care if you wear l-r-g or fubu or dc's or fuckin dickies, it's about style, not brands - style. its how you rock your gear and how you present youraelf. to say that clothing is not a part of hiphop is ridiculous. if thats true, why are hiphop clothing stores popping up all over the place and cashing in? its right there, its obviously a fact. trends are started for a reason, hiphop is very relevant to fashion and is one of those reasons. im not saying to follow trends but im saying that hiphop goes hand in hand with fashion. obviously both have been exploited to some degree but im not suggesting that people who wear tight courdoroy pants and cardigan sweaters dont listen to hiphop, thats not what the thread was about. if you want to dress like a bum than go ahead, sit at your computer all day posting about antisocialogical issues and complaining that you dont have a girlfriend and how you can so sincerely relate to sage songs. id rather look good and live life.

I never tried to dress "hip-hoped out"  Reply with quote

but as I got more into the music that was the style of clothing that apealed to me, I like cloths too big, and I don't wanna dress like an Emu nerd. I guess that's just me though, they're all manufactured styles companies try to sell you. Rather you dress like Carson Daly or Wu Tang some one's cashing in.
