HOw do you know when you suck at something?
Is it when everyone starts laughing at you?
Is it when the three people in the club don't clap?
Is it when your freinds start every critique of your talent with the word.....ehh.
I suck at basketball. I know this is true because I foul a lot and don't make any baskets. Thats easy to realize. But how do you know if you suck in the arts?
I can't tell if a person should really stop doing something when they think they suck, or if that means that they should just keep trying. I don't think I suck at any of the stuff that I think I'm good at, but what if I did? Who would tell me? My girlfreind and my freinds would spare my feelings, hell most strangers would spare my feelings and just let it ride. SHould we all be like that asshole on "Idol"?
Didn't I hear Sage say once that SOle didn't think that he was a good rapper until he heard Climb Trees? I wonder how Sage proccesed that information? I suppose if he had no respect for Sole, it wouldn't really matter.(or would it?) But what if he did? Would that make you want to be it more, or just give up and quit? |

to me it all depends on your interest in something. I'll use music as an example. When i started with music waaaaaayyyyy beack when (ten years ago) i sucked at it. I had no natural talent, and i to this day i pretty much think i am no better off at it than any other person that's done it this long would be. Some cats got the natural talent and if your interested and have natural talent, I HATE YOU. But as far as i'm concerned, if your interested enough you'll break past all the critiscims and assholes, and or envious. Therefore i see it as a question pertaining not towards your ability but your dedication towards getting the ability |

I love to talk about myself? You love to criticize my ego.
It so happens I am asked about all of these things MUCH more than I care to tell the story.
I know about me...I know about my life...I know what i have experienced...i draw from those things and try to find a greater truth to it all. This is a bio, so yes...it is about me. Most of the time, it's not about me. It's about your punk ass. I saw you at the show...I stomped on your fucking neck and stole your 8 Ball jacket.
How do you know if you suck at something? Well...if you have to critical skills to the point of complete oblivion, you probably suck. You shouldn't really quit if you love it, but you should keep it to yourself. Like...I still rock bubble letters in my notebooks but I don't go ruining the scenery for everyone just because I like seeing my name up on a wall.
People who suck at rap should stay the fuck away from putting out cds and wasting wax.
DJs who suck should stay the fuck away from radio stations and clubs.
B-Boys who suck should continue to do what they do because it's very funny to watch and it doesn't really hurt anyone but them. |

Hey Sage. I like ur interview. I been wondering for a while how u truely came about. Here at good old Walkersville Highschool. I been trying to open the minds of writing to better messages than just their typical love, hatred, happy, and sad messages. I think people are starting to accept it. Sage, don't ever question what ur life is cuz u r truely an inspiration to at least most writers, whatever writers might be on this forum, and the cut and paste idea is cool, good way to keep the interviewers out of ur business and actually get done what u need to get done. |

Yeah Sage is a dope writer and one of my favorite emcees but he comes accross as a holier than though dick on the message board quite a bit.... but then again so do a lot of people, so I guess I shouldn't make a judgement until I meet him, which proly won't happen because of where I live and the fact that I'm not willing to and can't spend over 500 bucks in transportation to see anyone perform, no matter who it is. |

90% of the time this is because you can't convey tone of voice through text.
5% of the time, it's probably because your perception is slewed.
the remaining 5% can probably be attributed to Sage being an asshole.
Who DOESN'T have 5% of asshole in them (pause)?
Peace,
Shane |

I dont know shit about Breaking but I remember seeing the dude from radioinactive pulling off some wierd sideways, flipping, kicking type moves during the Mush Tour. He has his own style, Ill give him that. I couldnt help but chuckle a bit while I watched him. |

| That show was incredible |
|

[ In 1988 my mother took me to my first concert ever...Run DMC, Public Enemy, EPMD, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince at the Providence Civic Center. Can you fucking IMAGINE that? ]
It was the "Def Jam Tour", it was JJ Fad as the opening act at least in Texas. Epmd with with DJ LaBoss(?), and Jazzy Jeff, Fresh Prince, Ready Rock C, Public Enemy (only the first album was out), and Run DMC. DMC was drunk as hell, and their show wasn't that great. I saw them in ST. Louis in 85 and they were A LOT better back then. I met Public Enemy at that show at a record store and Flav was next door at a high school music instrument store playing the Oboe or something. I heard that Flav is very intellegent and is classically trained.
Love the story. I have heard about you, but I only heard your music once. I own a hip-hop studio in Colorado Springs, CO. Seems like we must have been in it for about the same amount of time. I too remember when I thought I was the only white kid who knew ANYTHING about rap music. I think my first tape was a K-Tel "how to break dance" type thing which had a how to poster with the definitions of "word", "fresh", "wack" stuff like that and had that song "New York City Breakas". Must have been 83-4, naw I'm trippin the first rap tape that I had was The Message, my bad.

If you ask me people are 51% asshole and 49% cool maybe a real small group is like 49% asshole and 51% cool. But people who don't have to show their face are the worst (like on forums) but the other guy was right, it's so easy to sit behind your computer and piss the whole world off.
That's what most of the internet junkies do..............................................
Or they're busy spanking their monkeys while watching porn on the net!! |

| It takes a nation.... |
|

Its always cool to hear someones story from their own mouth rather than secondhand. I think that was the point.
"Public Enemy ruled my life for the next 5 years or so."
Hell fucking yeah. It takes a nation of millions was the first tape I ever bought and I've been buying hip hop ever since looking for something that comes close to being as complete as that album. |

They just don't promoted good music like they used to..
You could have put them up against some better quality musicians Megadeth and Slayer vs. Papa Roach and Lincoln Park? What about putting Tool in the place of one of those...because they are definitely more metal than either of your choices..even Korn would have been better choice than lincoln park...come on. |
