Your favorite HARDCORE groups?  Reply with quote

Ive been into hip-hop as far back as i can remember... but i also "dabbled" into other types of music...

In high school, 90% of my friends were straight edge (well, now only 1 of them still is) and they were all into hardcore and suprised myself by actually getting into it....

then i was in a "hardcore" group (more like a heavy metal - devil core type group) called TRANSGRESSION (AKA: 2degrees) back in like '95-'96. I actually just started "singing" with the group when we did a rock cover of "SLAM" by Onyx where i would perform the rap.... they then asked me to become their singer (which lasted about 3-4 shows cuz i sucked)... but while i was singer, we actually played with Aftershock at one show (who are pretty big on the Hardcore scene)....PS: my brother's band "The Acacia Strain" just got signed to their same label (Devilhead)

ANYWAY...the hardcore bands i got into were:
Converge
Shadows Fall
Earth Crisis
Hatebreed
Aftershock
Snapcase
and some others

PEACE

if there's somethin I learned in a years that I was into hc  Reply with quote

was that 98.5% of it is total garbage and sounds all the same.

but ish that still stays fresh in my ears..

bad brains
fugazi
avail (on rare occasions)
alkaline trio
braid
lifetime
kid dynamite
elliot and box car racer

I haven't listened to any of this in a long ass time but every now and then I'll pull those records out. I can't stand much of anything else out there. Like I said, it's fuckin garbage.

i listened to hardcore long before hip hop, but it did become kinda stale and uninspiring after a while.... i still listen to quite a bit though, even now.....

my favourite ever hardcore bands:

bloodlet

acrid
slugfest
spazz
chain of strength
morning again
systral
morser
culture
overcast
coalesce
fall silent
discordance axis

shai hulud

some current bands that are pretty dope:

7angels 7plagues
blood has been shed
unearth
remembering never
poison the well
every time i die
hopesfall

theres probably loads more, but these are the ones that are special off the top of my dome.....

spazz was kinda dope. Especially when they threw in hip hop breaks in the middle of their songs.

I heard Dan dropped a 12" with dj eon. It'd prolly be garbage but then again I might be suprised, somethin I still wanna check out.

yep  Reply with quote

i cant stand most hardcore it tends to all sound the same especially grindcore but i'd say if i had to pick i'd go with Charles Bronson or The Oath, they both have the same jive ass vocalist.
Locust is an amazing band but they are not actually hardcore(even though they scream and use double bass), they are a very creative band i think if you actually spend the time to really listen to them. Flight of the Wounded Locust is a great LP and well worth buying if you're into checking out something different. also Melt Banana, the jivest japanese noise rock band, they're crazy and thier cover of surfin usa is amazing. Pink and Brown is another good fast and crazy kind of band, it's two piece with guitar and drums. the two piece band Lightning Bolt is great too, the drummer is unbelievable he plays like a drum machine. imagine drum n bass or jungle but with live instruments and that's Lightning Bolt.

yo thomasnv, does the new zao album really suck and is it the 'self-titled' one or the one thats just coming out?........ i can't believe it would suck though.... zao have been my favourite all round band for a long time..... the vocals are truly amazing.... pity about the overly christian lyrics in their early work.......
