Music is art, but to treat it like a painting is wrong. I saw the Mona Lisa... along with about 60 other people in the room. Admired it for for a few minutes... 5 tops. This Wu album goes in some museum... and 6 people a day get to experience it.

Still a great publicity stunt and very interesting.

I think the idea of having what amounts to the album release party in a museum is a misguided attempt to place the Wu Tang Clan on the level of high art. Why do this? It's stupid and no one but the most devout supporter is fooled. Why not do something more in line with the fanbase and have a block party? Why not make people come to Staten Island (shit, the ferry is free) to hear it? Why not take over a vacant lot? Why not bump it in a school's gym? All of those things would serve the same purpose, but in a far less heavyhanded way.

I don't dig the idea of rap music made for one rich guy (or entity) to buy at auction, regardless of whether or not it goes public later.

RZA is saying someone offered 5 million for the album.

RZA says a lot of things though.
