New Wu-Tang Album, only releasing ONE copy  Reply with quote

This is interesting. Wu-Tang is releasing one copy of its new album, 31 songs, 128 minutes long, that has been recorded over the last few years in secret.

RZA is looking to tour the country's museums and fine arts centers, charging admission to hear it, just like you would be charged to see any fine art in a museum. Very interesting concept.

They will then auction of the sole copy and the owner can do with it as they wish.

i hope they can pull this off and not have it get leaked. i find it all very interesting. i imagine some major label will win the bid and release it, but what if some Branson goes all out and never even lets anyone hear it?

a leak will just prove that the people around the leak don't respect music as art

im a huge wu fan

but theres a part of me that thinks : it cant be that good of an album if they are locking it up like this

c'mon really?

they would release the heat to the masses no doubt

or it could be a made up album of unused tracks from rzas vault

That would be cool if done right

At the risk of upsetting diehard Wu fans...

What have they really released in the last decade or more that would suggest that the content of this "secret album" could be nearly as interesting as this publicity stunt?

That about sums it up. Enter the 36 Chambers was amazing, but the Wu have really failed to live up the the awesomeness of that moment in time. you see glimpses of it in their group and solo work, but that was truly the pinnacle of their work.

Yeah, I mean, this idea is certainly cool, and as Buck pointed out on Facebook - he had this concept years ago. If I thought that Wu could put out material that was deserving of such a remarkable concept, I'd be a lot more excited. Plus, really who the fuck wants to pay money to stand in a museum and listen to a Wu album. The Meh Tang Clan.

I'm not sure that any band ever could do this without the publicity stunt being the most interesting thing.

Went to hear the Wu-Tang album last night. It was kinda disappointing because the tracks by U-God and Masta Killa were the only ones that didn't skip.

Which kind of begs the question...is it all that interesting of a publicity stunt? heh. I mean, it's a publicity stunt. A good one as it has people talking. But beneath that buzz is the desire for this to be a really dope album. For the people who have been paying attention they're probably thinking the same thing I am..."it's probably best to just keep people wondering."
