That Tim Westwood radio "freestyle" is the best rap I've heard out of that dude in like 10 years or more.

I always felt like Eminem just needed to hire someone to come up with song premises for him and he'd be the best rapper ever.

He can definitely rap but his voice is grating as shit to me these days and I guess I just don't find his material very interesting. He tries to do concept songs on epic sounding beats all the time and it just sounds forced.

He should just jack a bunch of beats and rap his ass off on a mixtape. Or he could just keep doing what he's doing and sell millions upon millions of records.

Completely agree with this. Eminem's new shit is like he took the Eight Mile theme and decided that was the only kind of song he would ever make again, non-stop forced triumphant shit, with that Gilbert Godfried yell.

The Slim Shady LP (my favorite of his) is great largely because it's hilarious, at times self-deprecating, varied in tone and style, and the word play is fucking insane. I revisited '97 Bonnie and Clyde the other day and that's gotta be one of the most perfectly executed songs I've ever heard.

Haha I really thought Thirsten Howl had some crossover appeal as well. Tons of personality and a great voice. I don't think I ever heard his real album, was it Skilligan's Island?

I still bump that song about his mom. Why it hurts like this?

Regarding Eminem, I remember ignoring him after My Name Is dropped, cuz I thought it was just some corny whiteboy shit to make Dre some money. Then one morning, my friends picked me up and we smoked ourselves stupid and drove around running errands. One of them put in the Slim Shady LP, and I heard 97 Bonnie and Clyde for the first time. Like wow, this guy is doing a song clowning the recent Will Smith song, babytalking with his daughter about killing her mother. And then he makes it a play on the tupac song.

As time went on though, those songs started to feel way too personal. Like I don't need to know the intimate details of why you hate your wife. You reach this point of being confessional vs. being self indulgent and exploitative. Like when his daughter is grown does she listen to his songs where he imitates Kim gurgling blood after being stabbed? Jesus.

I never really got into eminem like everyone else. I don't like his voice. Don't care that much about his concepts. And his skills on the mic...I was listening to better rappers when he blew up.

A lot of people who love eminem also love dmx I feel like.

So, Eminem just posted on Facebook a #MMLP2 hashtag and a link to his website...

And there was these teasers....
Eminem on a Rick Rubin banger. :-O

I don't know if they're trying to sell albums or headphones.
I guess if people are just going to download music, it's a good business decision to try to get people to buy $299 studio-quality ear cans... but the cross-promotion is out of control.

Before all is said and done, I'd really like to see Marshall go all Jesse Pinkman on his Walt.
